Family run business established since 1976 , offering traditional upholstery repairs and services.

Along with traditional upholstery services/re-upholstery we also include new cushions, re-padding, springs, castors, stitching and fabric repairs etc.

We specialise in leather repair and restoration.

We undertake work on all types of furniture, including boats, caravans, motorhomes and car upholstery.

We offer a contract furniture service and also French polishing. Our business is still run by the family and we pride ourselves on offering a local service for the local marketplace, keeping all our work in house completing it in our own workshops. Our service takes us throughout the North East and we offer a free estimates in the comfort of your own home. Over ninety percent of our work comes through recommendation from previous customers and we are happy to give references and examples of our work for you to look at, to give you complete peace of mind.

We had 2 very expensive reclining chairs which became so flat the seat became very uncomfortable, attempted to have the seats recovered was proving a problem until we discovered Mr Rochester. Positive he could make them more comfortable he took the chairs away and returned them tonight. We are absolutely delighted with the job. No more sitting on cushions.

Great Service, now back for more

Well, as we indicated in a previous review we have now had our suite refurbished by Mr Rochester and again a first class service, this gentleman is a credit to his profession. Our armchair and 3 seater sofa are 13 years old, the leather is in great condition but the fillings have begun to show the age but not any more, after having the fillings replaced the furniture looks and feels almost new

Reupholstered armchair

I had an old armchair reupholstered. The service was very good, with a varied choice of material available and the chair was collected and returned on time. The end result is wonderful. It is exactly as I requested and the trimming finished with care. All the checks in the material matched too giving an extremely professional look. A new seat cushion was also made and the chair firmed up. Altogether a very good experience with high quality workmanship at a reasonable price. I intend to use Rochester Upholstery again. I am confident of the skills I have seen to have an antique armchair reupholstered next

DINING CHAIRS AS NEW

I found this business purely by chance while internet searching for an upholster to refurbish my dining chairs. I contacted Mr Rochester who responded to my email and arranged an appointment to visit me. I was given detailed explanation of what was required to do the job and had numerous sample pattern books to choose a material, a date was then given for the chairs to be collected and returned.
To say my wife and I are pleased is an understatement, 3 days later, we now have 4 chairs that are brand new.
Excellent service at a very reasonable price and I will be having my sofa and armchair refurbished by Mr Rochester at a later date
