Don't pay until job finished.

Make sure this plumber finishes the job before payment is made as they will not come back to finish the job. Part time plumber who does jobs after his full time job so turns up late and doesn't finish the job. Didn't reinstall outside tap or pipework when replacing pipework for kitchen, and left kitchen sink leaking from the drain which I managed to resolve by tightening the basket screw.
