Relate South Essex is the relationship counselling service and we are members of Relate "the relationship people". Our service has been working with the community for over sixty years and demand has intensified over the past few years as family pressures have increased.

We are able to offer individual, couple and family counselling in a secure and confidential environment. We also offer sex therapy, training and education along with family mediation services.

Due to the very experienced nature of our counsellors we are able to offer support in most areas, however we will refer you to appropriate alternative services if needed.

Our team are all highly qualified and experienced counsellors with the additional advantage of specialist couples counselling training. All have regular supervision and continue with personal development to ensure they are abreast with current trends.

Avoid Relate, go to an independent counsellor

Relate has probably helped numerous people, but my experience with Relate South Essex was disastrous.

First, if you're booking a counsellor anywhere else you'll know the counsellor's name & be able to visit their website, learn a bit about them - their background / areas of specialisation etc.

Relate give only a first name and wouldn't tell us anything about the counsellor or her experience.

It turned out she lacked the intellectual capacity to understand even the basics of the issues we needed help with & took minutes, literally minutes, to decide whose side she was on. Then she started attacking everything I said. She kept interrupting me, challenging me and displaying a most unhelpful & unnecessary aggression.

I excused myself and walked out. £55 down the drain!

The person you choose is going to make all the difference as to whether you get to your goals. Choose one of the numerous independent counsellors (some of whom will actually give you a free trial session).

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend RELATE it has been a very positive experience for us with an unbiased counsellor. I would hope that anyone that was once in a loving relationship would try RELATE first before walking away because it might be the magic eye opener that is needed.
