Misselling bread as wholemeal sourdough when it it's made with white flower and added yeast
1
They mis-sold bread as wholemeal sourdough when it it's made with white flower and added yeast. They did this on two occasions with my family and didn't even apologise.
Appended text following reply from business: Still no apology. Your staff don't know what they are selling. My wife bought your bread and she asked them if it was wholemeal sourdough and they said yes. I called to check and your staff affirmed that what she bought was wholemeal sourdough. A few days later she went to buy more and they told her what she'd bought wasn't wholemeal sourdough but another one was. She was upset because we take care with what we feed our family, but she trusted them and bought the second loaf. I called again because it looked like white, and they said you don't sell any wholemeal sourdough bread except the rye. The lady said it's not completely wholemeal and not completely sourdough. This suggests there is yeast. I think it'd be better to retrain your staff than pretend there's no problem.

Hello, we don't use yeast in any of our sourdough loaves, I'm not sure which loaf you're referring to in this review; we make a wheat and rye sourdough (our Tyne Bridge) that uses a blend of white and wholemeal wheat flours and some dark rye with absolutely no yeast and also a 100% wholemeal tin loaf with lots of added seeds which is yeasted with an overnight sponge, and is well labelled and not called sourdough. Our staff are very happy to have a conversation about the ingredients in all our products and we really pride ourselves on making proper sourdough, so just setting the record straight here for others who see your review
