The garden how is was; uninteresting, uneven grass and bricks and below the countoured stream being built.
Here the old 3 foot original fence panels were removed and new concrete posts and 5 foot panels fitted to give a 6 foot high fence overall. Simple but gives a great deal more privacy and security.
The original pond in this garden was pretty pointless and unrealiable as it was only 18 inches deep and was made from house bricks. The wall had a cavity which was filled for some reason with soil and due to the drainpipe being directed into it caused damp on the pond wall and the conservatory!
Looking better, it needs painting / preserving when finished and some time for the plants to mature. Experimentation with colour going on, the spindles will match the decking and the large posts and handrails will match the trelis. The planter will be an eye catching pastel colour so it stands out.
The airing line in this garden was not used and so was removed. It was quite un-nerving to see children running around whilst it was open and posing a posible danger. After the partition fence panels were erected the ground was covered with cotswold gravel and a log roll plant bed introduced..
This rockery was in a mess, there was no apparent use for it and the planting was sufficated by the tree's roots. The area was levelling and a raised decking area was designed to fit around the tree to better make use of the space. A dry stream bed is also to be constructed
This is a pair of 7 foot tall branches that had been dried for some time and then painted in 'silver copse' preserver. They are being used as a frame to support 2 clematis varieties and a jasmine. Eventually they'll look like a live tree again with colourful flowers and leaves all over them.
This decking was constructed to look a bit more stylish than simply cutting straight lengths and having them run vertically or horizontally across the walkway. The pine is also much less urban than slabs and house bricks and brings interest into this bit of the garden by leading the eye.
How a bit of pruning can tidy up an area of boundary fencing. Bringing more light onto a shaded lawn to help it grow better.
The decking area taking shape wirth incorporated bridge over the dry stream bed, Also the raised planter built and designed so that it doesnt touch the 130 year old oak tree or any of it's roots, this protects the structure and the tree. The planter also doubles up as a fairly comfortable sest.
Some evening shots of the stream after some heavy rain. Note the slate in the bottom to create an element of water by using a different color to the banks.
There are a few frogs living in the rainwater stream - it'll be home to lots more wildlife eventually.
Here you can see the new fence as per the previous photo, the customer wanted the fence to be a nice colour and after some consideration chose this blue paint. It stands out but isn't over the top and with the gate painted too it all creates a nice contrast to the red brick wall.
If you feel you can live with looking at your shed then fair enough but they can be quite unsightly and don't exactly blend in. To over come the shed in this garden was moved for the bottom of the garden and bought round to the side. It was then partitioned off using fence panels and a small gate.
This garden was a mess and had obviously been neglected. The side fence and arch were made and painted and the front fence moved allow space for a planting bed on the retaining wall infront of the fencing. The lawn was tiered and was clay so it was levelled, fertilised, screened and re-turfed.
The stream fills up to about 4 inches with very heavy prolonged rain fall, it then empties over the course or about a day or 2. There are 3 frogs living amongst the rocks that I know of, they are living in purpose built holes and compartments that I designed into the rockery / stream walls.
There was a massive downpour, the road, front garden and neighbour's gardenss were flooded, we had to stop because there was nothing that could be done without making more work for ourselves. The front garden was taking shape with slate, plants and large boulders carefully positioned
Before and after the banks were planted with grasses, ferns, rushes, reeds, herbs, marginal pond plants, alpines and various other plants of interesting colour, texture, smell or architecture.

Decking Area

5
I had Petals come and design me a decking area for my patio and table and chairs. What they built me was outstanding, the decking went down quickly and they really knew what they were doing. They were very helpful and friendly and even gave me designs the choose from for how the decking was going to be laid. I've recommended them to all of my friends and family and I would definitely use them again!
