Peninsular Streetly - Recommended!

I've been coming to this restaurant for many years - probably on and off for the past 12 years. My most recent visit was last week where I tried their new evening menu consisting the same dishes as their a la carte menu but at a bargain price of £14.95 for a substantial 4 course meal. All I'm going to say is you must try the Yuk Sung starter together with the inclusive mini platter of ribs,...spring rolls and crackers etc. The selection for the main course is your bog standard Chinese dishes but where Peninsular tops other establishments is their quality and taste. Lastly, I've given them a four star because of one tiny issue, but let's be honest, the lack of service is seen everywhere nowadays! So perhaps Im being slightly harsh. I visit restaurants for their quality of food first, then anything else good is a bonus.

The food is very good in this restaurant however the service is not very good. We ordered a take away 2hrs ago and were promised that it would be ready 1hr ago. We have been sat outside for a very long time and they are still not giving us a definite time for when our order will be ready. No sense of time and when we asked about our order we were always told that it would be another 15 mins. Here we are an hour later.

Testimonials

Simply....an excellent restaurant

The Peninsular is long established and is widely recognised as being the Sutton Coldfield / Streetly / Aldridge area’s premier Cantonese and Chinese restaurant. The food is always freshly cooked to order and is of the highest quality…and there is plenty of it as the portions are very generous. There is always a warm welcome from the staff, who have all been there for several years and form a great support team for the owner........

Lovely Lunch

Visited last week with my husband. We both decided to order the Oriental Lunch, we had chicken satay and vegetable spring rolls for starters. For main course we had a chicken dish and a prawn dish with rice. Really nice food at a reasonable price. The waiter who served us was very pleasant.

Google Review

This is a first class Chinese restaurant, excellent service and excellent food, always piping hot, staff polite and friendly, highly recommended, they do take away as well 😁, price is more than your average Chinese restaurant but worth every penny, staffed by genuine brummie Chinese people, give them a go
