Business overview

Sometimes pets need extra care or handling on walks or at home and it can be stressful finding a trustworthy carer. Peggy's Mission takes time to understand your pets needs.

Hi, I'm Ellen, an animal lover and Lewisham resident. I have been working and volunteering with dogs and other animals for 10 years.

At Peggy's Mission, we recognise how important it is that you can relax, knowing that everything is being done to ensure your pet feels safe, secure and is being looked after. We offer a free meet and greet beforehand, so you and your pet can feel confident trusting their new carer. We are happy to accommodate dogs that are anxious, fearful, reactive or may be physically impaired or elderly.

We understand that some dogs exhibit different behaviours for a number of different reasons. Dog parks are not for every dog and we are happy to avoid them if needed. We treat all dogs as individuals and tailor make our visits and walks to meet their needs, ensuring they are feeling as comfortable as possible. We are completely non-judgemental and our priority is to make sure your dog experiences stress-free and enjoyable exercise.

Alongside a diploma in animal management that covered behaviour, welfare and health, I have several years and extensive experience handling a variety of different animals. I have worked as a supervisor of a boarding kennels and cattery and I have volunteered for dog rescues, confidently handling different breeds, sizes, temperaments and behaviours.

Alongside this I have often walked friends dogs or cared for their animals whilst they have gone away. I have had my current dog companion, a rescued Staffie called Ralph, for 7 years.

Peggy's Mission was set up in memory of Peggy, a rescued Staffordshire Bull Terrier who, despite her kind, loving and gentle nature with people, was extremely dog reactive and fearful of loud noises, such as fireworks. Finding dog walkers and sitters if needed was stressful, worrying if they could handle her on walks or stop her from escaping if she heard a loud noise.

We are insured, canine first-aid trained and DBS checked.

My dog can be reactive to other dogs and I feel at ease knowing Ellen at Peggy's Mission is capable of handling her. Very professional service, friendly and experienced.
