We have been growing plants for over 100 years. The family continues to grow hundreds of thousands of plants in our traditional greenhouses, with skills learnt & handed down.

We pride ourselves on our extensive plant knowledge after all, the family have been in the plant business for over 100 years. During this time we have built strong links with the local community & have a loyal & trusted customer base.

We stock a large variety of plants from bedding plants through to ornamental trees. We carry a large variety of seasonal plants, fruit & vegetable plants along with all your other gardening needs from garden tools to ornamental stone and sundries.

A large majority of our plants are sown, propagated & grown here at our nurseries. We grow hundreds of thousands of plants each year, something we have been doing for four generations.

Don't buy the growbags!

Usually very good but I recently bought some grow bags which were, in all honesty, rubbish. One of the staff kindly loaded my boot with bags of compost then put the first of two grow bags I had bought into the boot. He fetched a second and the seam split depositing a good deal of compost into my car! He did apologise (lamely. I would have been mortified if I had done it) and fetched a replacement which he said was ok. When I got home, both grow bags were split along the seam and I had to do a diy job on them with parcel tape to secure them. These are Goodwins bags so you would expect better. Won't be buying growbags from here again 😟

Excellent Quality, Knowledge and reasonable price. Helpful staff.

I have been getting my garden supplies from here for many years, Main items each year being about 400 bedding begonias, and around 6 bags of potting compost (now largely peat free or minimal peat), plus many other plants/seeds/pots etc. Always a good, polite, very knowledgeable service from the staff who actually grow the plants. Good quality plants and reasonable prices. (Quality and price better than large garden centers!). Definitely recommended.

Good Manners, courtesy and polite

I phoned Halse and Sons today to check if they has compost the lady I spoke with was most polite. I arrived circa 2.00pm I purchased 4 bags of compost and asked if they could help me to place it in my car, not a problem they were straight on it - the gentleman that helped me was super polite and the gentleman that I paid the balance too was also very polite. I would just like to thank them for their politeness and courtesy today. Excellent service - white TT - thank you heaps
