Bereavement

On New Years Eve we sadly lost our Bulldog Albert. As it was the evening and everywhere was shut we went to to the PDSA and they were brilliant, so caring and thoughtful they made a really difficult experience as good as it could be for us and we really can't thank them enough.

Barney

I previously left a review about my dog Tashia, 5 years on I'm now leaving a review about my dog Barney who had to be put to rest on the 30th November 2020. Barney was our beautiful Collie dog who was touching 14 years old, at the end of his life he wasn't able to walk anymore and his heart was giving up! During this Covid period the staff were fantastic two staff coming out to carry him in as he'd doubled in weight over the last month of his life. We were allowed to go in with him one at a time and my wife was with him when he passed away. The staff were all so understanding at our worst of times giving us both time to spend separately with him and say our goodbyes and they gave us all the paperwork we needed to get his ashes returned to us at a reduced price. I'd like thank the staff for their wonderful work and their kind words.

THE SAD LOSS OF OUR BEAGLE AND THE KINDNESS OF THE PDSA

5
On 21 May we let the vet (Rachel) put our beloved 9 year old Beagle, Millie, to sleep. Millie had cancer in the form of a large lump on her head. This lump was so close to her eyes that it made an operation a dangerous option and so we took the decision to let her go before she began to suffer. This was a heartbreaking decision because we loved Millie very much. The staff on that day were so kind and understanding and we would. therefore. like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone concerned.
It was not an easy day but the kindness of all the staff helped us through.

We now have Millie's ashes in a lovely casket, together with her paw print in a special place at home.

Once again THANK YOU for careing so much.

Stay safe
Di and John

Reception staff

Thank you for your help, I can’t fault the vets.
The reception team should consider some additional “people skills” training or try and show some compassion even if they have no interest in their job or the animals as they are very cold and sometimes rude.

Best people in the world

There are no words that can describe what a fantastic place this is. I was told by a vet near me, that my dog needed an operation within the next 3-4 weeks. I only took her there for her yearly boosters. She is 11 1/2 years old. I'm a pensioner, and I could not afford the £1,500.00 or more quote this vet gave me. After taking advice I took her to Derby PDSA branch. The operation was not necessary nor urgent, I found out there. She has had this problem since birth. Her legs are slightly bent . I had her when she was 7 years old from a rescue. 18 months later, without the operation, she is doing extremely well. All she needed to do was lose weight and take light exercise. She takes tablets for her joints each day. Without these lovely people I may of had to give her up or worse. I've added them in my will now. The work they do is life saving, and they deserve all the praise they work so hard for. Many thanks from me and my girl. We're still together thanks to you.
