Business Overview

North Herts CAMRA Most Improved Pub of the Year.

A warm welcome to Our Mutual Friend from the friendly, experienced team. The ‘Mutual’, as it is colloquially known, is a specialist real ale pub situated in the south of Stevenage just minutes from Stevenage FC’s Stadium.

We currently have 7 handpulls dispensing an ever changing selection of real ales from near and far. We are pleased to support our local brewers as well as members of the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA). We always have traditional cider and perry available as well as the expected range of other drinks and our quarterly beer festivals are very well received.

We have won CAMRA North Hertfordshire’s Pub of the Year award no fewer than three times!

Good Beer!
As a regular, I enjoy the service from the majority of bar staff, the manager is a bit useless unfriendly and indifferent, doesn't serve people in the right order, etc, but the rest of the bar staff are amazing, Klayre in particular, who should in my opinion, be the manager. Food is generally good and cheap. My husband loves the beers and ales they put on. Great bbq in the nice weather and good area to sit outside. There is not a roaring fire, as the last review suggests, there is a small gas fire which doesn't produce any heat. My main complaint would be that it's freezing in there in the winter. They put it down to the oldness of the building, however the radiators in the loos don't work and it is always very cold. However, that said, I would still go there, just put on a jumper in cold weather! The toilets could do with a revamp and they don't flush well. They allow dogs in and it's generally a nice place to go to relax. Try it out sometime.

Our Mutual Friend
This pub has great reputation, in part for its layout and in part for its great selection of ales. It actually attracts a lot of real ale drinkers, who sit at the bar and enjoy the latest barrel. The pub holds beer festivals from time to time with real ales from all around the UK, and is a fantastic place to visit when it holding one.

It is a traditional pub to the extent that it even has a fireplace, which is great to sit around when there is a roaring fire going.

The staff are extremely friendly, and the place has a great atmosphere

You can watch the sports on a large flat screen TV. It also has a pool table and darts board.
