Long-time friends and Harlow locals, the founders of this esteemed onlyhedges.co.uk bring to the table not just their deep-rooted friendship, but a combined experience of over 30 years in the horticultural industry. Their journey from childhood friends to business partners is a testament to their shared vision and steadfast friendship.

Having spent their formative years amidst the lush landscapes of Harlow, both developed an early affinity for the outdoors, especially the myriad forms of plants and trees that were the backdrop to their adventures. In their youth, they marvelled at the uniformity and symmetry of hedges, forming natural walls and boundaries. This fascination with hedges went on to become the foundation of their business venture.

As the pair matured, so did their passion for nature. Their close-knit relationship expanded to encompass shared studies in botany and horticulture, leading to professional roles within the industry. Here, they honed their understanding of plant life, each day furthering their appreciation of nature’s capacity for beauty and sustainability.

After several years working in the field, they recognized an opportunity in the market. The potential for a business that focused particularly on hedges – those understated staples of English gardens – was evident. Driven by their shared love of these green walls of nature and their innate entrepreneurial spirit, they launched their own family-run plants and trees business, focusing primarily on hedges.
