MSC Carpentry & Construction Ltd

I had an awful experience with them. Took a huge deposit and never did any work. They literally ran away with my money and despite emailing, calling, having a county court judgement and high court judgement they have failed to pay me back. Don't ever hire these people. MICHAEL STEPHEN CRESSWELL doesn't get the job done.

Do not use this company! They were booked for a single storey extension in July'22. Works started fine, we made 2 instalments to MSC (50% of the quote)over 2 months and Communication quickly started getting bad.Multiple requests to Mike for drawings and building control reports after the 'inspections' but he kept fobbing us off with excuses or just not returning our calls. His 2 labourers never seemed to know what was happening.I contacted the architect and Sutton council myself to find that Mike had NOT paid and there had been no building inspections or drawings produced despite MSC starting the build and getting up to roof height.We had to pay again for inspections & drawings to find multiple regulation fails on the build and issued a recommendation for works to cease until corrected. MSC have not been seen or heard of since Oct'22 despite formal letters and legal letters sent. Ran off with our money leaving us with a mess to fix!

MSC carpentry & construction Ltd. gave me a quote for my small extension job. I accepted the quote and paid the 50% deposit. The agreed date of finish was in 3 weeks after the start. First week, no issue as it was outsourced. No work done in second week, but a demand for additional money came; to get drawings and building control approval”. Since then, MSC has done only 20% of the job at the most in 7 weeks. They did not apply for building control or get the drawings done. So, finally I did those things. The baffling news came when building control inspector visited the site and failed the foundation for multiple reasons. They put me in awkward situation; I will have to dismantle the work by someone. This is because MSC never answer calls or return your calls. The only thing they do is keep promising over the email/WhatsApp as an act of procrastination.
In short, MSC took 77% of the total amount for doing less than 20% of the work and that too failed to passed by building control.

Michael and his team came to quote, he was on budget and very knowledgeable, he helped me decide on the best floor underlay and did the screeding. He and his team were efficient, punctual and have amazing expertise beyond the floor job they were assigned, they trimmed doors fitted locks and are back soon to paint. They are craftsmen... I can’t say enough good things about these guys. Absolutely excellent.
