Highly Impressed

Engaged Morten and Sons to redecorate my Parents Bungalow. Decorated all rooms. Great communication throughout the works being completed. Completed price was as stated. Arrived and finished when stated. Excellent job and the place looks fantastic. Top marks to Barry and his team. Very impressed and would use again. Highly recommend.

An excellent job. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Morten and Sons recently completed the task of providing some much needed colour on the walls of our new apartment and have done a fantastic job!
In all, they painted in every room of the apartment except the bathrooms (which are tiled), using a total of seven different paint colours, as we specified.

Barry, whom I found to be most informative and easy to talk to, was very helpful in advising me about the various paint types/finishes and quantities required, and fetched all the paint himself, passing on the trade discount to me, as well as taking away the unwanted paint tins. The final bill, which was very reasonable, was identical to his original quotation, and didn’t seek to add on sundry ‘extras’ for various additional materials, as some decorators do.

Neil, who did the actual painting, is a very skilled and careful decorator, paying close attention to detail as well as being fastidious in protecting the carpets and clearing up afterwards. We are extremely happy with the result

So happy to have found Barry and Morten and Sons.

Having used other less professional Decorators in the past, I was delighted to find Barry who has now completed a number of decorating projects in my house over the past few weeks. The quality of the work is outstanding - Tom and Andrew are fantastic and go above and beyond. The quote process and ongoing communications have been faultless. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend or to use again and again for other decorating projects. Thank you Barry.

Excellent job

I have used this company previously to decorate my house and had no hesitation in calling them back to paint one upstairs room bedroom. Price was as quoted and completed in the time frame they said, and a great job. Really polite painter and a super job tidying up afterwards. 👌. Would recommend.

Highly unprofessional and rude and left with unfinished work

We first approached them 2 months ago to install a wallcovering for us. Barry came over and said it would take approx a day or so and quoted me his daily rate for £350 + VAT.

When it was time to come install he wanted to pop by again to look at the area and paper. We said we want to paint the trim and if they can help and they said yes.

I then received a text message from Barry quoting £1150 + VAT plus £100 in materials to include the paint work (that is over 3 full days work).

At this point they had been at the property for approx 1.5 hours. I replied saying in no unclear terms “I absolutely want to proceed on the wallpaper and I insist on paying for the time already spent” and asked to confirm the new amount minus the paint.

I was shocked to receive a msg saying they were not going to complete the job and that they didn’t want to discuss it further. I have full evidence of this. No reason was given and instead I got a “agree to disagree, life is short, move on”.

We are a family business which has been successfully operating for over 15 years this is the only time we have received such an unfair, misleading and vindictive review from a client. This client has proved very challenging and has published numerous bad reviews of our company on various social media outlets. The true facts of the matter are that we provided a quotation to this lady to undertake wallpapering in a downstairs cloakroom at a rate of £350/day plus Vat, we quoted a daily rate as the cloakroom was going to be refurbished and we were not able to determine the scope of the work until the refurbishment was complete. We confirmed verbally that two separate days would be required to undertake the work as the walls need to be lined, and then a day later when the lining paper had dried, we would apply the finishing paper. So, from day one she was aware that the estimated costs would be 2 days @£350/day totalling £700.00. plus VAT. When the cloakroom refurbishment was completed, the client requested that we revisit the property again to measure the wall areas and asked us to determine how much wallpaper was required. The wallpaper that she selected was over £1000 a roll which is extremely high for a cloakroom we suggested that due to the cost she should look at other wallpapers. The client looked at other wallpapers and requested us to recalculate how much wallpaper was required which we did. However, she finally decided to stay with the original expensive wallpaper. We revisited the property to view the wallpaper that had been purchased where we were advised that the client was not happy with the colour of the tile trim that had been installed by the cloakroom fitters and requested that we repaint all the tile trims together with the mirror fixings as additional work. She also confirmed that she had problems with tradesman in the past but that she was pleased with our company. We advised that the mastic that had been applied to the top of the tiles would also need to be removed and walls made good otherwise the new wallpaper would not adhere to that surface. We were requested to cut out the mastic then to paint the trim as additional work At this point I was concerned that the job had become much more complicated than first anticipated and in completing the work additional visits by our staff were required. I therefore forwarded our estimate of costs to compete the work incorporating additions and materials to keep the clients aware of the costs involved prior to the work being undertaken. The client then queried the price quoted and numerous messages were exchanged As no agreement could be reached, we decided that we would not undertake any further work for this client but would not charge them for the work we had completed. There then followed a number of angry messages from the client and her husband where he confirmed that he was a lawyer threatening legal action. As an experienced company we have behaved in a normal and sensible manner advising a client the costs involved on the work including the additions we were requested to undertake. We consider these actions as fair and reasonable and consider the bad reviews she has posted on various social media websites and platforms as totally unacceptable, biased and vindictive and do not reflect the events that took place.
