My Volvo V40 developed front wheel hum as I was travelling from the Netherlands to holiday in North Cornelly in November 2022.
The car was serviced shortly before leaving home.
Mike poacher & Sons garage was nearby and fortunately I got booking for a check 2 days later.
This revealed a faulty wheel bearing and I was given a quote and was again fortunate that they could fix it that same day.
Within a few hours the bearing was replaced and tested.
What was interesting, was that the mechanic - Shaun, asked if i had had the gaiter on that same wheel shaft replaced recently ?
I had during the service.
He explained that the bearing had failed because the locking nut which retains it was not tightened correctly when the gaiter was fitted and had worked loose, thus allowing the bearing to slide along the shaft, damaging it - a useful observation, so a chat with the garage in the Netherlands is in order.
The final price was as quoted.

My wife had a new turbo installed on her citroen at a cost of £1000 at Mike poachers. A few weeks later it was whining so she took it back they changed oil and cleaned filters sect £400. Couple of months later same again this time £480 now after 10.000miles turbo fails After complaining they said there is no guarantee on the new turbo even though a genuine citroen part instead blaming the engine. Would not even look at it without charging for a new turbo so she took it to a citroen mechanic he stripped it down and said pick up pipes ect should have been changed with the turbo not doing this had caused the trouble all along and led ultimately to the failure of the new turbo we told poachers this and still the denied responsibility. So please be aware that this may be a fault with citroen diesel engines OR IS IT
