Best Steaks in town

"Been advised to book beforehand, just as well as it is not a large establishment, very attentive staff who were able to advise on what was on offer. We settled on Rib Eye Steaks which were melt in the mouth together with a peppercorn sauce, and a nice bottle of Pinot Noir to wash it down finished with ice cream and chocolate sauce and cappuccinos ,Would recommend this restaurant to everyone" iain6936 Tripadvisor

Excellent steak meal

"I have now visited twice and had a delicious steak, cooked to perfection on both occasions with interesting garnish and tasty chips. The ambiance is very relaxed, service is good. A really good no nonsense food establishment. I will be visiting again soon" markandjayneaustin Tripadvisor

Best Steak in Town!

5
My boyfriend and I absolutely love McKirdy's! The staff are very nice and efficient. Our favourites on the menu are black pudding and apple stack - yum! And then we always get steaks - usually very rare fillets which are always succulent and tasty. They put wee flags on the steaks to indicate how each is done. If you ask for your steak well done then you're told it's at your own risk! Onion rings are fab and crunchy. Only small gripe is that they don't do roquefort sauce which is steaks natural accompaniment. My friend's had the McChiggis - chicken stuffed with haggis - and said that that was great too. They have a good cheeseboard if you've enough room after steak! Never tried any desserts. It's byob too which saves a bit of money.
The decor is a bit drab though - all Jack Vettriano prints...McKirdy's are also a long standing butchers in edinburgh - they shouldd hunt out some fab old photos and stuff and make the place cosier.
