Great location
Maxwells is just opposite Covent Garden tube station so it couldn't be in a better place for the local tourist attractions and night life that the area has to offer. Its great for a meal and a cocktail (or 5) before going on to local pubs, clubs and west end productions. The menu, although quite expensive, is quite broad and special offers are available. The cocktails are brilliant. It can get very busy, so make sure you get there early or be prepared to wait.

This restaurant is in a great location to catch passing tourists and shoppers, and with plenty of space inside and a good value lunch menu offer it is an attractive option in this popular area. Maybe they have it too easy though, as on a recent visit a colleague and I found the service rather off-hand and slow.

The food however was fine. I enjoyed my fish cakes and my friend tucked into her plate of ribs with enthusiasm. Portions were good, so some of the latter were left behind. We chose both from the “lunch express” menu, which offers one course for £6.95, two for £9.95 or three for £12.95 and is available Tuesdays to Fridays from 11.30 AM to 4.30 PM. This is a good deal for this part of town, though the soft drinks were pricey and pushed up our bill a little. But the service as I have said didn’t live up to its “express” billing – it was as well that we were under no pressure to hurry back to work that day ;-)

Maxwell's is an American type diner quite similar to TGI's and located directly opposite Covent Garden tube station.

In the evenings, particularly on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday you may have some time to wait before you get a table as it gets really busy.

The menu consists of burgers, steaks, ribs and fajitas and is quite expensive expect to pay around £35 a head).

I have been to Maxwell's a few times with friends and have enjoyed myself although I have to say that this is probably more due to the fact that I am in the company of good friends than the location of where we were.

I would most probably recommend that you go to TGI's if it is American fanfare that you are after as it is a bit cheaper and they offer better cocktails, although saying that I found the food, service and atmosphere in Maxwells' to be fine, however, just a bit overpriced in my opinion.

We ate here for lunch and we were very disappointed with both the quality of the food and the price that we were charged.

Although the atmosphere is nice and the staff friendly, the food took ages to arrive, and when it eventually did come is was hardly anything to shout about. I've had better meals in McDonalds and have not felt robbed.

It is possible we caught them on a bad day as other people were having similar issues. The only problem is that it has put me off from ever going there again. Shame because from the outside it looks quite nice.

Great atmosphere
This place has a really nice, lively and family-friendly atmosphere. The food is American themed and there is plenty of choice on the menu. The décor is wonderful and adds to the great feel of the restaurant. The food is really nice and definitely leaves you feeling full. But do remember it is at London prices but you get some decent food and atmosphere. They do sometimes do specials; when we went, there was a special menu that was cheaper. The service is polite and relatively quick. For a meal after the theatre, it’s well placed and inviting enough for a try.
