A non-religious funeral is focused on the person who has died. It is about remembering their life and celebrating what was special about it.

Funerals are usually sad occasions but they can also be an expression of the joy that people feel from having been a part of that person’s life.

I want to make it the best send off for that person in exactly the way that you would like.

I will visit you, taking as long as you need to tell me about the person and working out the way that you would like to remember them and I will talk to family or friends as well, if you wish.

After that, I write the ceremony, checking with you if necessary and liaise with the funeral director about the arrangements.

I will take cremations, burials, ashes scattering or memorials and the Ceremonies can include music, poetry, readings and contributions from those attending; all tailored to the wishes of the family or friends.

It is my wish to create and deliver ceremonies that mark a person's death in a way that is meaningful for those attending, reflecting their full value to families and friends, and the wider community of which they were a part.

Humanism is not a religion and Humanists are no different from any other non-religious person. They have simply signed up to an organisation that encourages rational thinking and understanding of life on the basis of evidence rather than belief and sacred books.

Humanists UK (The British Humanist Association) were the first group to offer non-religious funerals at a time when religious funerals were all that was available. The training is rigorous and all their celebrants are regularly assessed to ensure that they deliver the very best ceremonies.
