If you want decomposing lobster served on your plate, this is the perfect restaurant to dine.

The lobster arrived looking fine, until i realise the meat came straight off the shell of the lobster. We all know that this is an indication of unfresh lobster. Upon putting the meat in my mouth, i smelt this strong odour coming from this meat on my fork. This stinging chemical smell which can be closely described as ammonia is coming right of the meat. Which my cousin also smelt it. I searched online and realise this is an indication of a spoiled lobster.
When the manager came over to inspect it, he saids its is perfectly normal and assure me it is safe to eat. I was gonna let it slide because i dont want to cause a scene at a birthday dinner. However, when i cracked the claws and found even stronger ammonia smell coming from the claws.
They offered to take the £32 lobster off the bill and i ordered a £28 steak because the ammonia scent has put me off seafood for the night.
It is very worrying that a restaurant would try to convince a customer that it is OK to eat spoiled food.

Do not eat at this restaurant, you will be wasting your money. Booked table only to be seated at table with one less seat than needed. Starter was ok although fresh tuna sushi was not very fresh. Main meal we had kids fish and chips which was very greasy and chips incredibly over salted, and burger which was under cooked! Adults main of tuna steak (horrible cheap chewy tuna) yuk! Lobster and crab burger with a tiny blob of lobster the size of a ten pence piece (not acceptable for £17.95! And last but not least mussels in white wine and garlic sauce which were some half dead (when cooked) mussels in a cream sauce with raw garlic chucked in, no shallots or flavour in there at all topped off with inedible over salted chips and stale bread. Complained but apart from my daughters raw burger taken off bill got 10% off! Seriously not impressed, for an expensive restaurant apparently serving fresh seafood what a disappointment! Never again!

Completely agree overpriced mediocre food....visited the Gosforth restaurant on 18/04/17 and was hugely disappointed is this place under new management? We went last year and it was really very good but last nights experience left a great deal to be desired.....will not be going again you can get the same standard of food and service at a decent pub eatery at half the price........

Fabulous lunch experience

After wanting to try this restaurant for some time, we finally managed to go as a family for lunch to celebrate my 40th birthday. We ordered a lobster platter and a seafood grill with some sides and could not have been happier. We were made to feel very welcome and our three young children were brought balloons and spoken to by our waiter throughout the meal (he even persuaded our son to try oysters). We thoroughly enjoyed the platters as well as the desserts afterwards and the relaxed atmosphere made it a great experience for a special event - can't wait to have another excuse to go back!

Living on its past, what a shame

In a beautiful room (converted church) this used to be a regular for us. On our recommendation friends took us for a meal and finished up apologising to us for the poor experience, poor food, appalling service.

We thought it must be a one-off and went back to try it again. There were more waiting stagg (I counted 9) than diners on a Friday night. We were greeted by one, who said she would be looking after us that evening. We never saw her again. For the entire evening the staff gathered around the bar chatting and leaving the customers largely to their own devices. Service was appallingly slow and perfunctory, food was poor, both in quality and portion size and we watched meals sitting under the hot light waiting to be served. We actually had to stop one waiter (we had a different one for each course) and ask him if he would like to fetch our food, which we could see cooling and drying-out on the counter. Add all this to London-sized mark ups on a mediocre wine list in a recession-hit Northern City. Never again

This restaurant is excellent value for money. The quality of the food really reflects upon the excellent commitment the head chef and manager commands. I found the whole experience fabulous and wonderful. Floor staff really attentive and appears to love their job which must demonstrate upon the company's commitment to effective training. Anyone wants a brilliant night out take the opportunity to book and enjoy.
