The classic St James’s restaurant, Le Caprice is close to the Royal Academy, Burlington Arcade and Bond Street and moments from Piccadilly, Mayfair and the West End. A full à la carte menu is served from midday throughout the afternoon, featuring classic British, European and American favourites, prepared with carefully sourced seasonal game, meat and fish, and boasting a renowned list of desserts.

Le Caprice’s timeless black and white interior is complemented by a collection of iconic photographs by David Bailey and features a long dining bar where the full menu is available. Weather permitting, our beautiful terrace is the perfect place to escape the bustle of the city, while inside our pianist plays from 6.30pm until midnight. Like its close neighbour the Ritz Hotel, Le Caprice is a true London landmark.

Top restaurant

A fantastic high class restaurant in St. James’s The menu is pricey but the food absolutely incredible. Moreover, the service too is fantastic, with friendly yet professional waiters. My favourites are the delicious steak tartare, one of the best steak tartars I have ever eaten, the goats cheese risotto, the steaks which were cooked to perfection, and my absolute favourite, which I have every time I go, which is the iced berries with hot white chocolate sauce as a dessert. A great restaurant to go to for special occasions, and I would go all the time if it were not for the slightly prohibitive pricing!

Reputation Deserved

This establishment has a reputation for a reason: It is professionally run and has truly excellent food.

The restaurant is chocca in the evening and has a lively vibe. Whilst it may be a little noisy for those who don't like to raise their voice the quality of food and ambiance let that potential irritation pale into insignificance.

Le Caprice's food is so good that i think i could honestly eat it every day of my life. I had a light but exceptionally tasty meal: Cold beetroot soup with horseradish (mmm, perfect) and then arguably the best blue fin tuna I have had - luscious and thickly chopped tuna steak on a bed of cleverly spiced lentils that were astonishly complimentary.

Monitoring closely the other dishes around the table, the soft crab appetizer looked a winner, as did the juicy helpings of scallops.

All in all, highly recommended.

(Punters should note that doing anything as vulgar as photographing your dinner party is utterly banned, which I personally find a shade OTT and potentially pretentious but I am in a surprisingly forgiving mood after such tasty food.)

A perfect lunch

A friend and I had a long Saturday lunch here, and it was absolutely delightful. The service - friendly, professional and very welcoming.
The food was wonderful, ambience perfect, and the "Happy birthday" wish was a thoughtful touch.
I would definitely recommend Le Caprice for any occasion, and will return to sample more of the menu. We were so impressed, we bought the book!

Pure Professionalism

Le Caprice is in my view the jewel in Mr Caring's crown.

Everything about this restaurant is professional from the stove to the front of house.

Excellent simple well prepared food , good service and understated decor.

The Wolesley near buy owned by the original founders of Le Caprice , Ivy et al cannot match Le Caprice their vulgar pursuit of mammon is too obvious.

Le Caprice, St James

I went for a romantic dinner in this modern european resturant and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

The service was above par allowing us to focus on the food, the subdued lighting and live piano music rounded off the night.

Next time I visit I'll opt for a more complex dish than the rib-eye steak, which was fine but simple. My starter of scallops was a more rich offering.
