Langar Hall

This is where we go for all our special family occasions. Inventive food and relatively inexpensive at lunchtime. It's simply the best restaurant in Nottinghamshire and well worth the drive.

Langar Hall is owned and run by Imogen Skirving, a wonderful character who makes you feel this is a very elegant home away from home. She's very warm and friendly and lovely to chat to. The history of her family and how they have looked after the hall through the generations is interesting. And all of the staff are as lovely, the service is fantastic, we were doted on. I stayed here for 3 nights over Christmas with my family and every meal was a delight. I ate locally grown venison, beef, and of course Turkey. The design of the hall and grounds is very lovely with quirky twists and with a big influence from Paul Smith who I understand regularly stays here. I stayed in the Cartland room, named after the Lady in Pink who used to stay here (although there's a photo in the room of her, there's thankfully no bright pink!) Each elegant room is individually designed, and are all really gorgeous. The public rooms include a lovely conservatory, drawing room, dining room and library, where you can cosy up in front of the fires in winter, or walk out into the beautiful grounds. I couldn't recommend this place more highly, and I and all my family will definitely return - I'm sure again and again.
