Kings Car Repairs is a fully mobile car and van repair service - operating as your very own personal car mechanic.

We offer a range of specialist services at a location convenient for you, including engine diagnostics, car servicing, head gaskets, timing belts, suspensions, brakes, all electrical work plus so much more, including hybrid vehicles.

As we are mobile, we can conduct the work wherever suits you, giving you peace of mind to continue your day without having to worry about getting the vehicle to us!

We are qualified to repair and diagnose faults and required repairs on cars and vans for petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles.

Our vans are fully equipped with tools and software to carry out repair work and use a range of the latest diagnostic equipment.

We offer a professional, honest and comprehensive service to the general public and businesses encompassing car servicing and vehicle repair services.

We aim to get our clients back on the road as quickly and efficiently as possible, to keep them there with a car maintenance plan, together with excellent customer care and service every time.

We are based in Desborough, Northamptonshire and cover Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough and surrounding areas and villages; we'll come to you at your home or place of work.

I spotted King's Car Repairs around and about Desborough and called on them to fix a problem with my car.. I've never looked back and won't use any other mechanics now.. my grown up kids use King's Car Repairs too. King's Car Repairs are reliable and dependable at car repairs, maintenance/servicing and even MOTs..
On one or two occasions Sean has towed cars back home so they do that too.
Marvellous in this day and age!

Disappointing Experience with Kings Car Repair

On March 19th, 2024, Kings Car Repair conducted a diagnostic assessment, revealing fault codes P040300 EGR Valve. Despite authorizing repairs, during the repair process, I was blindsided by the revelation of an additional fault code, P029900 - Turbo/Supercharger Underboost, which had already been identified in the initial diagnostic assessment. This unexpected development led to a significant escalation in the initial cost estimate from £795.50 + VAT to £1500 + VAT.

I opted out of further repairs, left with a £150 + VAT labor bill. Subsequently, I sought a second opinion elsewhere and had a full diagnostic done properly, discovering that none of the fault codes were present after thorough inspection, my vehicle required no parts replacements.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend Kings Car Repair for diagnostic services. The process felt rushed, and there was a lack of transparency, regarding the identified issues. Ive since had quotes from other mechanics proving to be half the price.

Hi KevinN-206, we are disheartened to read this low review from you, given that we were upfront, honest and straightforward in our communication with you at all times in regard to your vehicle from the moment you booked in with us. When an underboost fault code is shown alongside an EGR fault code, it cannot be determined that the turbo is the root cause at that time due to the complexity of the EGR airflow circuit, hence why our working hypothesis was to replace the EGR first as the symptoms are the same. It was then discovered that there was a mechanical issue with the turbo, which can't be immediately determined until the area is stripped, and we updated you as soon as we were able to, as we couldn't guarantee that the EGR replacement alone would be beneficial in the long term due to both parts requiring a significant amount of labour to change, and our intention was ultimately to reduce labour costs further down the road by addressing the issues in one journey.

Pleasure to deal with Shaun and Kings Car Repairs

Shaun from Kings came to diagnose my car and fitted a new Alternator. This is not the first time that I have used his services to get me out of a bind. He and his whole team are always professional and punctual. I would definitely use them again (although hopefully I don't have to).
