Keenes Dance Studio

We have recently enrolled, September 2019, for the Absolute Beginners Ballroom and Latin class, as my wife and I have not danced before.
We were apprehensive at first, but Carol and the whole team immediately put us at ease, and learning to dance is just an amazing experience.
Carol explains each dance, shows you all of the steps required and then you are dancing, nobody is left out, we all learn as a group and it is fantastic.

My wife and I have been having dance lessons at Keenes since January and we are loving every minute, our only regret is that we didn't start going previously. A very inclusive set up, everyone made welcome and really good teaching that has everyone dancing in no time.

My friend and I came to Keenes Dance Studio for the first time about 9 years ago. We had been learning ballroom and Latin dances elsewhere, but were totally disatisfied with the quality of teaching. We realised as soon as we joined Keenes that some of the steps we had been taught were not completely correct and it took a few weeks to get out of the bad habits. Carol is a fantastic teacher and dancer! She has a clear voice and you can hear and understand her perfectly. She always makes sure that everybody is doing the steps correctly, but we have a lot of fun as well. For us it is great to be able to get up and dance when we go cruising, and it is another form of keeping fit and active. I highly recommend it. If you do not have a dancing partner, do not be put off! have a word with Carol.

After having a bad experience at a previous local dance school my wife and I phoned Keenes and arranged an assessment of our then dancing abilities.
Carol the principal dance teacher has been from that date to now along with her other dance teachers absolutely amazing! Right from the beginning you learn the social rhythm, the basic cha cha cha steps and a bit of waltz, more than enough to get you around a crowded dance floor on holiday, a works function or even a cruise in only a few weeks! We’ve only been in the school a couple of years and those basics lead you on to the rumba, quickstep, more cha cha cha, more waltz, tango, jive, and then getting your teeth into the foxtrot and samba! There’s even the salsa if you want it! There’s lots to do at the school socially too in the way of practice nights for all levels a couple of annual Balls and loads of social dance nights all in their all inclusive dance school. There’s dancing for all ages and everyone is so friendly and welcoming!

I coaxed my slightly reluctant partner along to an Absolute Beginners class in January this year. We are in our middle 50s and had never danced, so I was slightly nervous too. Carol is an excellent teacher and achieves the perfect balance between making it fun whilst still encouraging improvement and focus. In six months we have made amazing progress and can make a good stab at a social rhythm, cha cha, waltz, quick step and now rumba too. My partner makes every effort to come with me as often as he can, and we have also attended one of the evening socials - I think he is a convert! Carol also has wonderful helpers who will dance with, and help, anyone without a partner.
When I tell my friends and colleagues about our class so many of them say 'Oh I've always fancied trying that' If you are one of these people I heartily recommend Keenes as the place to do it. Come along!
