No customer service no solution to the problems with my 2 year old cabin

Bought a log cabin 2 years ago had to call out Johnsons sheds twice in the first year.
First time I was not at home when the cabin was completed. Found muddy footprint on window and wood around door and frame split.
They did come out and sand the footprint off and filled the crack.
Second time the door frame was moving and the slats started separating. They came out again done something to the door which did correct it.
Now I have noticed that the slats are separating around the window so it looks like the problem has just moved and there is a leak in the side wall through the knots in the wood and what looks like black mould in all the corners they came out yesterday (after waiting for 3 weeks for them to call us and I had ring to complain last Friday)to have a look but have done nothing to correct it.
I now have a 2 year old cabin that leaks and the wood is separating around the window and tarpaulin on the side

Terrible aftersales/care! Spent thousands with this company, only to be palmed off with broken promises.. promised a phone call Monday (it’s now Thursday)to arrange snags being sorted after our garden building being fitted on 9th July, it’s now Thursday and still no phone call. AVOID JOHNSONS GARDEN BUILDINGS do your research before buying and spend your money with a more reliable company!

Summer House Installation

Do not use this company for your summer house requirements. Positioned the building in the wrong place to start, then constant call backs for snagging. Started the works at the end of June for 2 days and still not finished yet (mid August). Was laughed at by an after sales director when i questioned their after sales commitment. All this and you have to pay up front for the works. Do not do it.

Excellent service and product

I recently bought a Pavilion cabin from Johnsons and am really happy with both the build quality and customer service. They delivered when they said they would and their install team did a brilliant job. I had one or two minor snaggings with the electrics, but they sorted it out straight away. Very professional company to deal with and an excellent product.

Not quite so good - be careful

Be very careful with this lot. Do not pay your final payment (or withhold 10/20%) until you are 100% satisfied with their service and build.

I have had problems with them and they have scant regard to customer service, and did minimal to help fix the problems. Their after service team are fully booked for weeks in advance - should be a good indicator that not all is well with their installation team/quality/issues arising - and do not want to appear to maintain any form of customer loyalty.

When posting on Twitter about my problems, others also commented that they had had same issues. Their social media is very tightly controlled, no Trustpilot, and no open Facebook or Twitter pages for customers to post any concerns or issues.

It all tells of a sad story.

Dear DerekP-13,   I would like to respond on behalf of Johnsons.   We have a customer that is prolific on social media about Johnsons with a similar name to your user name. With reference to this customers situation the initial issues with the supply of wrong colour paint and other minor snagging concerns were promptly resolved, I can only presume that any dissatisfaction left outstanding is owing to a request and subsequent refusal to pay out compensation. This was carefully reviewed and refused at Director level as being an unreasonable demand and additionally outside of our terms and conditions of business. With regards to your comment and for the purpose of clarification, I’d like to address your social media post advising potential customers to withhold money.  I would like to clarify that we expect our goods to be paid for in full. If you buy a car and you have issues with it, you expect them to be resolved, you would not expect to withhold money for it until you are ...

completely happy, as this would be open to abuse and the wheels of that particular vehicle and further-more those of that industry would indeed stop turning. it is the same with our business.   If a customer has concerns with our payment terms they may request to withhold some money until completion of the build but no later, this will be considered on an individual basis and may not always be agreed. The prompt payment of goods in line with general business practices and our terms and conditions is not unreasonable and is necessary owing to the considerable amount of fraud that is prevalent in society currently. This does not detract from a customer’s statutory rights. There are no delays with our after sales teams that I am aware of whatsoever. As a company we installed over 1000 garden buildings last year and have very nearly the parity of a thousand satisfied customers in retrospect. sites under different user names has prompted a change in company policy to begin to publish some of the statements from some of the thousands of satisfied customers, so that the public may get a more rounded perspective of Johnsons Garden Buildings, being in my opinion and many, many others a very good company.   Customer service and customer loyalty is indeed very important to us. We are a well-established, very real and tangible company with 10 places of business, manned by many very real and tangible staff. We take pride in the product and service, we take complaints seriously. We have to of course first establish the difference between general social media chatter and genuine issues that need to be resolved. Social media is quite new to us and brings its own rewards but also its own challenges. It is important that it is not used simply for venting, when other avenues for resolution of any problems are much easier and considerably more effective with regards to communication...

It should also obviously not be used maliciously or in a slanderous way.   There are often minor issues with this kind of product that may need addressing often owing to the natural characteristics of wood itself particularly, not being a precisely engineered construction material, that continues to move throughout its lifespan. The difference between us and much of the competition, is that we have a customer service department and conscientious staff that observe this as a fact and resolve these product and service related problems that may occur, other companies in the same trade largely and as a whole don't. When buying a log cabin it is often the first purchase for a customer from this arena and this is not realised. I can assure you of our sincerity so please do not hesitate to contact us again if you have any further concerns, or even to vent, we are happy to help. We man the phones and emails 9 hours a day, 5 days.
