Jamie's Italian - Authentic affordable Italian Restaurants

When Jamie's Italian was first conceived, the starting point was to re-create what Italians are most proud of - fantastic, rustic dishes, using recipes that have been tried, tested and loved! Jamie talks about "feeling Italian" and in Gennaro Contaldo, we can tap into real thing. A great mentor for our young chefs and someone who, as a boy growing up in a tiny fishing village on the Amalfi coast, learned how simple, fresh ingredients, prepared and cooked with love and passion (a phrase he uses every day - and means!) become truly great dishes.

So of course we wanted to serve exceptional food. But our aim was also to create an environment with a "neighbourhood" feel, inspired by the "Italian table" where people relax, share, and enjoy each other's company. Jamie's Italian was designed to be accessible and affordable, a place where anyone is welcome and everyone will feel comfortable, no matter how much you spend or how long you stay.

Food Poisoning Hell

Our daughter took us for a meal last week. The next day my wife had crippling pains in her tummy and the other side effects you would associate with food poisoning. I phone them the next day to discuss this and warn others not to eat the pork roll but no one was available to discuss it and no one rang back. They couldn't have cared less. I have written to Kingston environmental health and trading standards.

Absolutely dreadful! Appalling service, which included the waitress forgetting one starter. Grossly over-produced food design - the ghastly, tasteless frito misto actually came wrapped in a cardboard menu. What they call a salad was a few mangy leaves slung on a plate.

And we were constantly referred to as 'guys' by the snippy 20 year-old staff. Just an awful experience in every way.

I wonder if Jamie Oliver has actually ever visited this restaurant to see what is being perpetuated in his name.
