J Gard & Sons

Ive used j gards for years now. Its a great timber yard with really good timber storage facilities meaning you'll always get a good bit of lumber. You can get timber cut to any size and machined to a very high standard compared to other companies I've used. I've always been happy with the service I've recieved there.

I emailed my fence order over today and was pleasantly surprised when I received a call from you this evening well past closing time to confirm the order by a helpful lady , that to me is what I call great service and why I use your company for all my timber projects..Thank you Keith Brett

I have visited a couple of time recently and have been greatly impressed with the helpfulness and expertise of the salespeople and also the delivery drivers

I am not a carpenter so I was encouraged by the J Gard website that offered friendly and helpful advice. I explained my requirements to a stony-faced gentleman behind the desk who made me feel like I was wasting his time. He told me to go and wait by the timber and someone would come to meet me. Another person arrived, seemed totally disinterested, cut my wood before informing me that I hadn't taken into account that planed finish meant that the size on the wood was in fact incorrect (a fact undoubtedly known to wood 'experts' but not to your average person I would suspect). The whole atmosphere is hostile to the uninitiated - no one will offer to help you and, unless you are pro-active you will wander around aimlessly. So my advice would be, unless you are au fait with timber, you will get much more help from B&Q or another establishment like that

Very friendly staff and a great range. I loved that regardless if I need only a small thing or two or a whole vans worth that the guys here will always help out - cheap too!
