Fabulous craftsmanship

John did the most wonderful job of restoring an antique manuscript cabinet that was in terrible condition. He discussed options with us and sent updates, with photographs, from the outset. This piece of furniture was of great sentimental value to us and John was able to interpret my wishes (which weren't always very clear!) exactly. He was also ready to give advice - even after the repair - which is enormously kind of him. I had researched furniture restorers across the North West and am so pleased that I chose John. I could not recommend him highly enough.

Excellent service

John is a true gentleman & craftsman. He has just repaired & restored an oak table that has been in my family for a hundred years. John spoke to me in detail before starting the work to make sure he knew exactly what I wanted him to do & explaining how he would go about doing it, he is very knowledgeable & was able to tell me things I didn't know.
The results of his work are amazing & I can highly recommend him.

We were passed Johns contact details by a family friend when we needed our Grandfather clock case re-finishing. From initial contact and discussions he was clearly very knowledgeable and was very clear about the options open to us regarding full restoration or sympathetic restoration. Communications throughout the process were timely and clear and we are delighted with the finished clock case. I would not hesitate to use John again for future work.

An absolute craftsman

I had a treasured family dining table which was in need of some care and attention, so I contacted John and it was the best thing I could of done - what an absolute craftsman and total gentleman he is! He has transformed my table after only a couple of weeks into something of beauty, highlighting the fabulous grain in the wood which will be cherished for years to come. John kindly agreed to even email pictures of the whole process to me so I could send them on to my family. I would not hesitate to send my furniture to John in the future, I cannot praise his skill highly enough. What a lovely gentleman!

John Farrington is a master craftsman and I can thoroughly recommend him. He has undertaken a number of commissions for me over the past decade or so, all of them beautifully executed: I say this as an exacting person myself. His most recent job for me was the creation of a replacement slat or rung for an antique, ladder back dining chair in mahogany. Its curved rungs are shaped, pierced and carved. John created a new rung: a perfect match in appearance and finish; and - most amazingly - his technique allowed its fitting to the chair without the need to disassemble it. John Farrington’s work is truly outstanding and I find him a pleasure to deal with.
