For twenty years, J.A. Chisholm & Son have provided quality plant and machinery hire throughout Northumberland and North Tyneside. In this time, we have established ourselves as reliable, focused contractors with an emphasis on customer service and satisfaction.

We are an owner operated company, specialising in operated plant hire, as well as, ground works and landscaping, using 180 and 360 excavators, and mini diggers. with high quality workmanship, and attention to detail a priority.

Also available to compliment these services, we run tractor and trailer hire, which includes dump trailers, vacuum tankers, and water bowser's.

The tractor is also available on its own for agricultural, or construction work.

We also supply Quad bike and trailer hire, which is ideal for soft ground, or environmentally sensitive sites. or where access is narrow or limited.

We have completed contracts both large and small for various clients, references on request.

Magician with a digger!

We got James to update some drainange, and dig up our drive in the process, and it's transformed our home! Not only did he make a Rolls Royce job of what we asked, but he landscaped the total mess around it into a beautiful, tidy, lovely place. I just can't tell you how pleased we are, but I can say that you could not find anyone better for this kind of work.

A job well done!

Mr. Chisholm came to our rescue quickly when we needed several tons of building/garden materials moved. He completed the job in one afternoon, which saved us weeks of work. He was extremely careful as some of the spaces were quite tight in which to relocate the materials. Highly recommend!

Large wild life pond, expertly built.

I decided a great project for my husband was to dig me a pond, little did I know the work involved for him. But J. A. Chisholm came to our rescue. A brilliant job was done, no mess. I cannot stress the amazing work this man has achieved in a day, he came when he said he would, firstly called to look at the site and gave us the quote and then transformed the bottom of my garden with two layers for plants and then the deep dig. The pond is 8 metres by 6 metres so not a little one, he has built up around the sides, honestly I am so happy. You would be silly to go to someone else. I would be happy to answer any questions, I am a very happy lady with my beautiful wild life pond.

Not just a man with digger!

We employed Chisholm & Sons to do a large complex drainage job in our paddock, which had been flooding and consequently was very muddy and difficult for our livestock to negotiate. We had an initial meeting with James to establish the solutions and timescales and a plan of action was agreed and drawn up so we all knew what the stages of the job were to reach the result we wanted to achieve. At our request, James sourced all of the drainage materials, fixtures, pipes, stones and additional equipment. The work was carried out in a very methodical and professional manner, often When the job was completed, the areas worked on were tidied up and everything was left clear. There was also a follow-on visit a couple of weeks later to check that everything was settling OK and that we were still happy. We would use Chisholm & Son again and highly recommend them.
