We are a long established family run business and have provided an independent funeral service for four generations in Wakefield.

Howarths of Wakefield are members of The National Association of Funeral Directors, The Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors, The British Institute of Funeral Directors and the British Institute of Embalmers.

First class service from a truly caring family business.
Nothing was too much for them and the cost was much cheaper than I expected.
It was a perfect tribute to dad but I really hope I don’t have to use them again for a very long time!

Forgot to put the funeral notice in the paper

The company persuaded us not to put the funeral notice in the paper until the last minute and then forgot to put the notice in the paper. This was very upsetting as we were contacted by people who would have liked to attend and assumed it was a family error. The company did not respond to a complaint until prompted and I felt they lacked empathy for the distress caused.

So sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with some of the funeral arrangements that took place last April 2018. I acknowledge that the Wakefield Express obituary notice was missed and for that I made immediate apologies, including detailed circumstances for the omission, followed by apologies to other members of your family. I did offer, in writing, to make amends in some other form three months ago and that offer still stands with my sincere apologies. Its not often that things go wrong but I am always ready to talk and do whatever I can to better the situation. Ian Howarth
