Reviews

avoid

1
Dishonest, lack of transparency. The school states a list of values that they do not follow. There are many better private school options in the area. The current leadership situation is highly questionable, disorganised and ineffective.

A rare gem of a school.

My son recently started at Hollygirt School (2022) after a very unsettling previous schooling experience that was distressing to all of us and especially him. I can’t thank Hollygirt teachers and the Head enough for the support and encouragement they have so far given to my son, the community atmosphere is palpable, and I now my son is getting more and more confident every day. There’s nothing I wanted to see more. Thank you so much.

A hidden gem

Hollygirt is an excellent school that focuses on ‘value-added’, which is a true measure of the quality of a school. As a parent I can’t ask for more than a child who goes to school and leaves every day with a smile on his face and is enthused by what he has learnt during the day-I have been incredibly impressed with the school’s personal and approachable ethos.

A terrible school

1
A terrible school - don't waste your money. Unsupportive and aggressive teaching left my child hating themselves. Other children openly mocked for memory difficulties or being effeminate. Some children kept down a year - or two - for learning reasons then have to leave at 16 with no qualifications. We were told our child would never achieve anything and should be in special school. They got 8 GCSEs grades 7-9!

They have no compassion they only want you £££

1
Save your money and go to the High School or even better a state school. The new head has no compassion for mental health problems or your child. If you find yourself on the wrong side of them they will do their utmost to ruin a child's life and you'll be left with no support. They boast about being inclusive but they are anything but. They penalise children for speaking out and having a different mindset/difficulties. If you're expecting any sort of decent pastoral care you won't find it here either, they will leave your child alone and afraid when they are clearly in distress. They also consider mental health problems/illness to bring their school into disrepute and use this to justify their actions. Make sure you read their behavior and discipline policy, they don't even investigate incidents and its soley the heads decision to exclude/expel children for reasons she finds "dire".
