Great local shop

I am continuing amazed at the range of stock they carry and, considering it’s a small local shop, the prices are pretty good. Great service and I don’t know what we’d do without them

One Stop Shop!

One stop shop is all I can say. Disappointed to see such blatant lies on other reviews about such a fantastic shop! All the staff at Hollins are so polite and helpful, even if you're not quite sure what you're looking for they will go out of there way to ensure you leave with everything you need. The collective knowledge of all the staff at Hollins is very impressive, there understanding of all things D.I.Y amazes me still to this day after years of shopping at the store. In reply to other reviews that say "it was £1 cheaper at Tesco" or "They shouted at a 90 year old lady returning a mop" why don't you get in your car and drive the 1 hour round trip to the nearest Tesco in Stockport to save yourself £1 on the product while you burn £5 in fuel. As for shouting at the 90 year old lady ... what a load of rubbish. I've seen the staff at hollins assist in carrying shopping for elderly customers on numerous occasions. Lovely staff, lovely shop, lovely service.

Poor customer service?

I always use this store to buy my plants housewares and diy materials. I shop there 2 to 3 times per week. I have always been treated courteously in fact the staff bend over backwards to help even if I need one screw! I too work in retail and I know only too well there are two sides to a story. I think it's terrible that people think it's acceptable to write monologues like the one preceeding mine. It is not a fair review of the business and certainly not the customer service I've seen or received there. In fact I've heard it said from various sources that people come from far and wide and write a shopping list until they can come from Scotland and Wales and Cornwall. I've been there when people have come in from Canada and America stunned that it's not a huge corporate business. It's a local independent shop run by people who actually care if you want one screw or a huge box. Hollins of marple get my vote every time and I have confidence in the advice and service given there.

Great DIY shop poor customer service

Great for all your DIY materials, but very poor customer service witnessed this morning. An elderly disabled lady walked into store to return mop because she found the handle to tight to grip the female Assistant promptly said "well it's not for you anyway it's for your cleaner"in a very unfriendly tone and after repeatedly telling the lady there is nothing wrong with it in an angry tone at which point even the old lady said you don't need to get angry with me,thankfully her colleague mentioned another option that might be better for her grip and the lady said that will be ok,the lady preceded to pay the extra on her debit card and it seemed to the shop assistants delight she then announced in loud voice minimum spend £5 on a card,Im sorry but for me that is unexceptable behaviour and this assistant needs to go on a customer service course,I myself work in the service industry and I understand how difficult it can be at times dealing with the public but come on the lady was 90 years old.

Great local diy store

The range of items carried by this local DIY store from screws ,bolts, paints, electrical items gardening is amazing. Generally for one offs the prices are very reasonable and the staff very helpful with advice. Brilliant service ,and saves long trips to B and Q which is not cheap.
