Business overview

Jonathan and Annelise Underwood took over ownership of Hawthorn Vets from Malcolm and Jennie Wild in April 2012. Malcolm and Jennie themselves acquired Partridge Green in 1993 followed by the Henfield surgery, then in Furners Lane, a year later. Over the following 19 years there has been steady growth and an increase to five veterinary surgeons working at the practice.

As well as treating illnesses, we promote routine preventative healthcare and like to get to know our patients while they are healthy as well as when they are poorly!

All of our veterinary surgeons are very experienced and have been qualified at least 10 years. Our vets undertake regular training and development courses to enable them to keep up to date with the latest techniques and medications. It is reassuring to know that there are very few things that someone at Hawthorn Vets hasn't seen before!

Standards Slipping

1
I’ve been a customer of Hawthorne for approximately 3 Years 9 months and standards have slipped, ignorant & arrogant unprofessional unhelpful frontline staff since the pandemic. All nurses have left so you are unable to book your dog in for paws to be clipped, unless you visit a Vet at there extortionate rates. New reception staff who have no prior knowledge of who you are they are incompetent robots who haven’t got a clue. Keep you on hold, question you if you’ve ever bought a product from the surgery? Advise to ring you back? With the correct information to never doing? Over charge you on products by up to 40% where as you can get online….far cheaper. Lack of compassion empathy at this veterinary when he used to be such a joy visiting

Cruel and incompetent

1
Very cruel and incompetent.
My very gentle little Pomeranian had his nails hacked to bleeding today!
I am still distressed at putting my dog in this vets care.
I will NEVER go here again and advise the vet to take a course on trimming dogs nails.....groomers can do it! Why can't he?

Kind, understanding, friendly and a "team"

As soon as entered this vets I knew that all would be looked after well. Anyone passing through the waiting area smiled and said hello. The vet Meggie was so caring and made sure she understood how to deal with the problem and kept in touch with me via e.mail and telephone until my animal had to be put to sleep at only 18 months old. The whole experience could have been very much worse at the previous vets that I had gone to. Thank goodness they were there. If you care for your pet I would say this is the only vet practice you should consider !!
