Haskins Garden Centre

This used to be my favourite garden centre, but the last visit was dire.
Coffee shop: Young staff evidently more interested in their apps than the customer, limited selection of stale cakes, mucky and sticky tables & chairs. (Nothing like the glossy pics on the website.)
Retail/gift area: Staff too busy chatting to one another in groups about holidays etc to pay attention to customers.
Plant area: 10/10 The only area where the staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

The garden centre itself is very nice, if a bit expensive. What let’s it down though is one particular staff member in the restaurant. I seem to always see her when ever I come for lunch, she is typically serving in the Costa area, blonde hair and white shirt, and frequently seems snappy and grumpy with customers. When I went today, I asked for a drink they didn’t have, so instead of making a fuss I just asked for one of their usuals instead. However, she acted as though I had been really rude, when I had been nothing but polite, and made both me and my friend feel very attacked, and seemed to have made our drinks badlyon purpose. Working in customer service myself I understand that sometimes it is a struggle, but every time I’ve eaten at snow hill she has either been rude to myself or other customers. The other staff in the restaurant were lovely, but this one either needs an attitude adjustment or should find a job where her main role isn’t to be polite and friendly to customers.

My husband and I had lunch today in the restaurant. We won't be going again it was disgusting.

I love Haskins, Snowhill - there is so much choice in all areas , the restaurant is good and all the staff are friendly and helpful. I recommend it to everyone , especially gardeners.
