I am the son of a Master Builder who took me to work from a very young age and learned me absolutely everything that he knows. I have worked with breathable lime Motar/Plaster on properties with solid walls and under pinning on the Headland in the 90's.

-We worked on lots of Propertyies with Salt which had effollecenced -This usually as a result of someone rendering or pointing a lime built wall with cement. The moisture in side of the house can not get out and as a result the bricks spall, salt patches appear on internal walls which will attract moisture indefinitely or until cured.

-or the internal walls plastered instead of using raw lime. The wall can not breath, moisture builds up behind the plaster until expensive damage is caused.

I have seen it all too many times with the wrong paint too. Solids walls have no cavity HOUSES BREATH TOO.

Smothered the wall with silk/vinyl Paint? You have sealed the wall and need to strip it off. Now finish it using Breathable Paint or coloured lime wash.

-Maintain Sub Floor ventilation bricks blocked with spiders webs, soil, gravel or even rendered. Moisture under the floor boards Should never rise above 15%. The joists and boards will rot with-in and as a result damp appears on the walls. The ground floor boards springs. Mr Fix it recommends a 4 Grand damp Course when all you had to do was clean out the holes or add more sub ventilation bricks until the moisture is 15% or below. Remove the skirting boards and let the walls dry out using heaters, fans and a dehumidifier. If salt has formed and developed, only then the wall finish should be removed.

-Lead Dressing.

-Lead Paint Removal and disposal.
