Business overview
2013 RICS North East Renaissance award winner.
I am a Chartered Building Surveyor with an Architectural Degree and have been working in the Richmond area for 40 years.
I ran my own practice in Richmond for nearly 20 years before moving to head Smiths Gore's Architecture and Building Surveying Department in Darlington. There, I worked on historic buildings and country estates including farm building conversions. I had responsibility for the repairs and maintenance of Grade I Listed Auckland Castle, the home of the Bishop of Durham. I provided the Durham Diocese with two new vicarages, and with a new house for the Bishop of Jarrow.
My farm building conversion scheme for Bowes Offices at Lambton Park was shortlisted in the 2008 RICS North East Renaissance Awards. My scheme for Linnel Hill, alterations and extensions to a Northumbrian farmhouse, was Highly Commended in the 2013 RICS North East Renaissance Awards. In December 2016 the Richmond and District Civic Society presented me with an award for "the design, sympathetic conservation and care of the impressively restored (Grade II Listed) Linton House, Richmond".
