Someone unknown to me made a mendacious (lying) report to the DVLA that my alleged poor eyesight meant I was unfit to drive. This after 60 years of incident-free driving, most recently around Europe in my 3½ ton motorhome! To add insult to injury, the DVLA require me to take an eye test with Specsavers, although the pandemic means that now they aren’t doing any testing for the DVLA! So I booked in to Hardwicks who did tests for the DVLA before Specsavers undercut all opposing bids and secured a 5-year contract worth £19 million.

Hardwicks were excellent, both technically and personally. Gary Hardwick used his DVLA-approved equipment for the key field of vision measurement, as well a series of in-depth tests and inspections. The result: is that I do not need glasses for driving!

After 3 months, I went from uncaring remote bureaucracy to Hardwicks’ human warmth and high levels of care and skill. I now await Specsavers tests with greatly increased confidence.

I attended an Eye Test on Monday 3rd August 2020 and booked the Comprehensive Test, which included scans on both my eyes. Whilst there is an extra charge for this, I am pleased I did as there was an early diagnosis of cataract in both my eyes. It is an extensive series of tests and proved to be valuable when I saw my Optician, Mrs Smith. There was no rush with my test, explaining the diagnosis and the best course of action for me. It was the first day of being fully open with all of their staff in following the COVID Lockdown in March. The environment was clean, spacious and little risk of being close to other Customers. The PPE by the staff was clean and I felt really assured by the whole experience. The Customer Service was excellent. on selecting the new lens and frames, the focus on the fitting of my frame and measurements for the lens was detailed. How TV Advert's post glasses for under £20 and not check them for fitting is beyond me!! Keep up the good work Hardwicks.

Myself and children, now adults have been using Hardwicks optitions for 20 years now. Always polite, excellent quality care and great range of frames. All types of lens offered and contact lenses. Wouldn't go anywhere else now. My parents also have used Hardwicks for 25 years plus.

Excellent service from start to finish. The receptionist, Lorraine - I think, wonderfully got us booked in and through the initial tests and questions and segue'd to the main test with Mr Hardwick himself. A true gentlemen, asking us important questions before the test to find our requirements, such a breath of fresh air.
I can't remember the stylish chap with the stunning tash's name but he is amazing. Such an understanding of his range of products that he can pick frame styles and colours that perfectly suit anyone even if you wouldn't normally go for that particular style.

The very best opticians I have ever been to. Professional, friendly and very caring staff. Would recommend to anyone and I wouldn't dream of using any other opticians. A very thorough eye examination and test is carried out with professionalism and courtesy. Selecting frames with Mr Phil Sherlock is wonderful as he knows what frames suit you best. Nothing is hurried and you are always treated with courtesy and kindness. Wonderful experience. Will definitely be using them again.
