Forge Garage

We took our motorhome in to have a cambelt fitted, but on our first trip out it dropped two valves as the timing was out by one tooth! Now we did contact Forge who did offer to look at the problem, to be fair. However on a further conversation, they were mentioning that they did not supply the tensioner (they couldn't find one!), and this part could have been faulty. So already alarm bells were ringing that they were not going to take responsibility for their mistake. Having had a mobile mechanic to assess the situation for us. He confirmed the problem and double checked the tensioner we provided, which wasn't faulty! He confirmed that the engine was seriously damaged. We took the decision in the end to not take it back to Forge, as to be honest, if they couldn't fit a timing belt correctly, then we didn't trust them to do any further work. Ironically when we picked up the van from them, the mechanic said it was the easiest cambelt he had ever fitted!

Bad service. I took my car in to get a quote for a repair to my car window. I told them what the problem was. They said they needed to have a look themselves and would then give me a quote. Without warning me or getting prior permission, they took my car door apart and the window out. When I didn't want to go ahead with their quote and said I'd just collect the car, they informed me they'd done this and I'd have to pay £78 if I wanted them to try to put the car back together (if they were able to). When I refused to pay for this, they just left my car out in the street in the rain in its dismantled state with no window and half a door, so the electronics in my car are probably now damaged. They refused to give me my keys trying to charge me for time taking the door and window apart. Any chargeable work should have been agreed in advance and warnings should have been given before doing things which may be irreversible or cause damage so a customer can make an informed choice.

I had some engine work done through a warranty company, had trouble understanding the payment process from the company and didn't let me pick up the car straight away, the work that was done has so far been good and worked well (writing 2 weeks later). The worst part is leaving the garage with a screw in my tire that caused a slow puncture and I have to go somewhere else to get fixed

Thank you for servicing and MOTing my Mini, all went smoothly as usual. All my family are now using you for our cars needs. I would not think of taking mine anywhere else. See you next one of our cars need work.
