Business overview

We love plants and gardens, and love to make your gardens more beautiful too. Christmas is now open ! Come and view our extensive range of Christmas trees, decorations & lights !

The Ferndale team know their stuff!

Formal training, a passionate interest in plants & gardens & a love for helping customers all combine to create the Ferndale Customer Care Team. With heaps of ideas and knowledge, each one is ready and willing to help both the novice and the experienced gardener to create their own beautiful garden. Expertise is further enhanced with Neil Grant’s input, managing director and BBC Radio Sheffield’s Garden Expert.

Put a group of garden & plant lovers together and you’ll see bursts of colour and creative ideas that you can copy at home. Revitalise your garden simply by placing different plants together, in ways not usually seen. Get ready to be surprised!

In the Ferndale, the large coffee shop we produce the majority of the meals we offer. Cracking cakes are loving made in our large kitchen & are perfect accompaniments for our Pollards local coffee. Gluten free cakes are made for us by a specialist bakery to ensure total isolation.

The Ferndale All Day Gardeners Breakfast is one of our most popular meals & for hungry folk you can go large.

The every day menu is always available and on Sundays we add our 28 day Roast Beef dinner & Friday is 'Fish and Chip Friday' with fresh fish from Grimsby.

Daily specials that reflect the seasons and the weather are very popular. Always check the specials wall for our home made main courses. Our daily Ferndale made pies are very popular.

Indoor plants are back on trend. We have always loved growing indoor plants & we hunt out plants that you've seen on Instagram. Others don't.

Outdoor living is part of all our lives. From February to July our range suits our local area and available straight away from our large warehouse. You can often be sitting on it on the same day as purchasing.

Christmas is something else: you must visit & see.

As an independent local family business we are always changing and improving. We've been doing this since 1982. Call in.

Ferndale are a very personable, friendly bunch with a great knowledge on gardening issues. They are willing to give good sound advice and go out of their way to ensure customer satisfaction. It is also rumoured that they provide the local BBC with their gardening expert!
Their coffee shop means you can combine your shopping with lunch.
If you are looking for good old fashioned customer service, Ferndale is the place. I would whole heartedly recommend.

The place to go for Christmas preparations.

Ferndale has an excellent Christmas department, so many varieties of decorations, lights, ornaments and cards, as well as a reviving cafe with gorgeous home made cakes and range of coffees in a welcoming atmosphere. Lunches too are delicious and good if you are doing 'Slimming World' with some items having the 'Syn values' worked out to make it very easy. The plants and accessories give me inspiration especially watching the hints on the TV's. Highly recommended.

We always try to start our visit in the retaurant where the local food is excellently prepared and presented, although we always have to linger as we pass the seasonal displays. Most of my purchases are either trees or shrubs but that doesn't mean that I'm not tempted from the displays of healthy plants on offer throughout.
