Bristol's Award Winning Veterinary Practice

We are a friendly, compassionate surgery dedicated to caring for your pet's health and well being. We invest heavily in our staff and equipment to ensure a standard of pet care that is second to none. Everything we do is to ensure that you and your pet get the best treatment and care available.

We were voted as the Veterinary Practice of the year 2011 and are very proud and privileged to serve our local community. In 2013 we won the UK design awards - a lot of that was from our innovative approach to ensuring best practice for your pet.

Our reputation as a premier veterinary practice in Bristol is one that our staff take very seriously and nothing is too much trouble. We are always looking to improve what we do and take a very forward thinking approach to veterinary science. We try and use products and drugs that are proven to actually work and we pride ourselves on being a small independent practice that does not choose drugs based on their price alone.

We have been with this practice for over 20 yrs, but unfortunately, they no longer care about your beloved animals, and the quality of care has dropped significantly. After taking our beloved feline into this very busy surgery a little over a week ago, with what we believed to be dental pain, (due an abnormal appearance of his gums). The vet administered a shot of Metacam without reading his notes, & above all, without taking a blood test. The vet's initial diagnosis was that he was suffering with gingivitis, only she then changed her mind, & claimed he had inflammation on his gums due to trauma. He was then sent home with a prescription of pain relief (Metacam) to treat the latter. Therefore, imagine our horror when we took him to another vet just 36 hrs later, to discover our beloved cat was dying of cancer, anaemia, chronic renal failure and gallstones. Perhaps Emerson's Green Surgery should care more for the animals & less about drumming up business for profits.

Beware - wrong medication given that would have killed my cat had I not spotted it

BEWARE - DOG Medication (Metacam) given for my CAT by Martin which would have given 10 TIMES the safe dose. Effect would have been 'kidney failure and death'.
I had loaded the syringe, at home, with the pain-killer and, as there seemed a lot of liquid for one dose. I checked Metacam box. It said Dog.
I called the vet to check and 'oopsy' they had made a mistake.
I saw Martin when I drove back to the vets to collect the correct prescription. I really didn't feel he gave two-hoots and at that stage I hadn't realised how serious it could have been.
It wasn't until I got home that I worked out, with a bit of research, that the dosage of 10 times would have killed my cat.
A phone call with Martin consisted of him defending his mistake. Apparently only a small percentage of prescriptions are wrong...checks in place...usual excuses. That doesn't really help as I only have one cat and it would have died. Maybe the 'checks' need strengthening.
