Business overview

Four lovely self catering cottages 7 miles south of Canterbury in North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A warm welcome is guaranteed on this small farm.

Situated high on the Kent Downs, only 7 miles from the cathedral city of Canterbury, our cottages provide a perfect base from which to explore the many attractions of the surrounding area. We look forward to welcoming you to Elmfield.

Our small farm is used for sheep farming and hay making. We keep alpacas, a few sheep, some lovely pigs, ducks and chickens for our guests to meet and provide a few very tasty free range eggs. On the edge of the farmyard, each cottage has its own patio and lawned garden area. We live on our farm too so if you need anything during your stay we will do our very best to help.

Dilly and Gilt cottages are traditional detached brick built bungalows which sleep 4. Clay and Straw cottages are end of terrace cottages built from Straw Bales each sleeping 6. All the cottages have room for cots. (The middle cottage of the terrace is used only for storage). We pride ourselves on providing a warm welcome, and bake fresh cakes for your arrival. There is also a small play area in the farmyard and plenty of space to play and explore across the fields and in the woods.

As well as the city of Canterbury there are a large number of local attractions for visitors of all ages. Most popular of these is Canterbury Cathedral, Dover Castle, Port Lympne Safari Park and Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway. Walking and Cycling are very popular here with beautiful hills, lovely woods and miles of footpaths. Kent has many great beaches as well as dramatic clifftop walks at Dover.

Fantastic Self-catering Accommodation

I can't recommend Elmfield Farm Cottages highly enough.
We stayed for a week in September 2020. The farm and cottages are lovely, situated perfectly to explore Kent and the surrounding area. The accommodation was perfect, very clean, spacious and airy with everything we needed.
The hosts, Andy and Harriett, were brilliant. Very approachable and helpful but without being over-attentive - they struck the perfect balance.
A particular highlight, that set the stay apart, was the nightly option to feed the farm animals. This was a fantastic experience and thoroughly enjoyed by the children and adults alike.
Staying there during the Coronavirus pandemic, a lot of thought had clearly been taken to making sure that the accommodation and guests were safe. Hand sanitiser and cleaning products were provided with clear guidance on what precautions were being taken. It felt like a sensible and practical approach had been taken and didn't impact negatively on the enjoyment of our holiday at all.
