Dobbies Gloucester

I can’t believe how much our Dobbies has improved recently. Good food and lovely coffee now. We used to have to wait 30-60 minutes for coffee and food but the last few weeks everything is really quick and delicious. The coffee used to be so weak but now great flavour. Very clean environment as always and very friendly and helpful staff again as always. We had stopped going as never had full menu and couldn’t be bothered to wait so long but now back to being one of our favourite places.

Went today with my husband. We were hoping that service would have improved from our last visit in March.
We were wrong. Be prepared for a long wait, inattentive and dour staff and mediocre coffee and cake. After nearly 20 minutes of waiting to be served in the restaurant we left and decided to use the coffee shop instead. There was nowhere to sit that was clean; all the tables had dirty dishes on them, so we cleared our table before sitting down. We thought that we would give the restaurant/ coffee shop another chance today. We were last there in March with our daughter and had a horrendous wait in the coffee shop of about 35 minutes in the queue, then were served by very grumpy staff. I had complained back in March and would have hoped by now that customer service would have improved. It has not and the restaurant/ coffee shop is a big let down. I shall only be using the Food Hall and plant area, but never ever again to the restaurant / coffee shop.

I queued in the coffee section not realising you had to sit down and your order would be taken. My partner had a full breakfast and I ordered a bacon roll and two latte's. They were mostly froth and not really hot. I got two pieces of bread with bacon as they didn't have any rolls. It would have been nice to have been informed of this before hand but I asked for the bread to be toasted and it was taken away and done. When it was brought back I paid and after we had eaten I ordered two more coffees asking for them to be hot. they eventually came and I was asked for the full price of the breakfast etc. I had fortunately asked for a receipt so told the lady I had already paid. She went off and I presume the manager came went off with the receipt then came back took the money for the coffees which were even colder and never answered when asked what would happen if I didn't have a receipt. Please give him some customer service training. We will go back to Highfields.
