Very disappointed, would not recommend

I had 2 external lights fitted by this trader. One new installation activated by a timer switch also fitted by this electrician and the other a direct replacement.
After approx 6 weeks the timer light tripped out the RCD on my consumer unit. I contacted the electrician who said that the wiring was overheating because I had chosen the timer over a PIR. He had fitted incorrect cable and said he said he would repair but I would have to pay and he would have to get the heatproof cable to do this.
I spoke with electrical engineers where I work and also 2 qualified and experienced electricians I know (and who live too far away to do the job) and they both said that heatproof cable should have been used in the first instance and this could have posed a danger.
After communicating this to him he agreed he would rectify the faulty installation and refused to do the second light. We hd agreed on a rectification date and I insisted that when he returned he should correct the second light as it had the same wiring as the first. He didn't turn up and hasn't responded to my emails.
Very disappointing to be treated like this when he was quick enough to take payment. Not recommended at all.
