Good food in pleasant surroundings
We were tired and hungry, and followed a road sign for the Cottage Restaurant. We missed the restaurant entrance and ended up in a housing estate, but we persevered, and discovered a little gem. We parked the car, then walked up the slope to the restaurant, past chickens (rare breed?) in enclosures. The slope might pose a problem for wheelchair users, but it is a roadway, so I imagine temporary access could be granted to car owners.

The restaurant was larger than we expected. It looked clean and comfortable, and we sat in the conservatory (no blinds, so rather hot in the sun) and looked out over aviaries containing quail, budgies and canaries. I had the lamb shank, and my sister had a chicken burger. We both enjoyed our meals. The prices were reasonable, and the welcome was warm. Worth a second visit.

We visited The Cottage for the first time for Saturday lunch, and have decided that we will definately be back. The grounds were lovely (the weather was nice for once so we sat outside), the bar and separate conservatory were nice, and the aviary/rabbit hutch near the summerhouse was a nice touch! The lunchtime menu had a good choice of snacks and mains, the staff were friendly, and the food was extremely tasty. Have already booked to go back for a birthday meal.

Fleetwood

i have been to this establishment on two occasions in the last week at both times with a large party of family and colleagues. i have to say that collectively we were mortified at the service and attitude of the young waitress which was ghastly. I had hoped it was just a bad day and returned for a second time, however on this visit they had ran out of ingrediance, but most disappointing the attitude and service of the young waitress had not improved. Very disappointed, we will not be returning.

High quality food
This small restaurant is situated just outside Dingwall, perhaps a five minute drive. It is worth getting to though, as the food is of a high standard. It is a restaurant and bar, although the bar does not take away from the dining experience - you would not even notice it's there. There is also a separate dining area too, so you do not even have to be in view of the bar for those who prefer it a bit more quiet. The prices are very reasonable for this type of formal restaurant, and the food is delicious. There is a wide range of different meals, mainly your typical Scottish fare of fish, chicken, steak, and such like. There are vegetarian offers too though. There are also some tasty desserts to shoose from. The staff are friendly and it retains its old fashioned charm whilst still appearing modern. Highly recommended.
