Always happy to shop at Collyer's!

I was saddened to see that the majority of reviews on here of Collyers were negative. I have lived in Borrowash for almost 35 years and have never been treated with anything but courtesy. The staff are always helpful, and have even dropped off heavy stuff at our house with no charge, I believe that the problem with review sites is that the people happy with service don't usually bother to leave a comment, whilst the disgruntled are only too happy to take to their keyboards. So come on happy Collyer's customers, let's help to push up their ratings to reflect more accurately the service they provide!

No respect for people with disability

I have the most horrendous experience of my life in this place I was made a mockery by the senior manager and then the rest of staff sniggering at me by the checkout because I have unseen sevever disability of complex type It has affected me so severely to make it worse the owner shouted at me and said”it is his prerogative to ask me to get out of his garden Center” I had spend more than 600 pounds in that place. The owner said when I informed him I am ill “that is my problem not his” rude discourteous and very inhuman behaviour.

Recent visit

I agree with previous comments that that the staff can be abusive with these having difficulties. Senior staff and the management are particularly rude towards registered disabled customers who may not necessarily overtly display their problems. The owner and management needs to attend charm school!

abrupt staff in the store

I am a regular at Collyers and have bought plants from them regularly as I live locally. Unfortunately since the covid-19 the staff in the store have been rude and abrupt. I am a senior citizen but young at heart so I get on with most people of different age. I will not be now going to the garden centre as I expect to be treated with respect, after all customers keep the staff in jobs but I sometimes think they forget that. On a positive note when I buy compost and as you know its heavy, the guys at Collyers are always very happy to help.

Bad experience at Collyers

As I live locally (Breaston) I go to the Collyers Garden Centre fairly often and find them very good. However recently I was in a queue at Collyers and there was a polite gentleman with his young son (probably 5 year old) who didn't have a mask. The member of Collyers staff was very rude to him and shouted across to him and asked him why he wasn't wearing a mask and was very unprofessional. Collyers need to be trained as there are some people with disabilities who are allowed not to wear a mask. I know as my young daughter is one of them. I contacted Tesco and Marks and Spencers regarding shopping with my daughter at their store and they said they would never approach a customer without a mask. Can you please train your staff not to approach a customer as it wasn't very pleasant for me to experience it and neither would it have been for other customers. Thank you
