Cheltenham Garden Machinery, established in 1971 as a family business, has steadily grown to become the only Officially Appointed Dealer in the Cheltenham area for many leading brands of garden machinery including Stihl, Honda, Hayter, Toro, Atco, Husqvarna, Countax, Iseki, Ariens, Snapper, etc. We are also a Premier Cordless Product Dealer carrying huge stocks of Battery machines and accessories.

Our Cheltenham showroom now boasts what is probably the largest range of lawnmowers and garden machinery in the county, all at keen prices. We hold an extensive range of spare parts with most parts being available for a next-day postal service if required. We also offer a free delivery service throughout Gloucestershire on most new machines and low cost annual servicing which complies with extended warranties offered by ourselves and various manufacturers.

We cover Gloucestershire including Cheltenham, Stroud, Gloucester, Cirencester, Tewkesbury, Newent, the Forest of Dean, Bourton-on-the-Water and many other local areas.

CGM have always offered excellent products and services - I've been going to them for 20 years. Then 2 days ago Rob kindly agreed to restring my strimmer free of charge - typically very good service - thank you !

Terrible service

Paid CGM £60 for 2 replacement lawnmower wheels. They ordered poor quality wheels of different colour and style to those I had asked for. Far from apologizing, the manager said I should be happy as long as they fitted! After he had been really rude, I eventually got a refund and was able to order genuine, good quality parts (which he claimed were unobtainable!) online for the same price.

I am sorry that you are not happy with your recent experience with our company and the way that your enquiry was handled. I believe that there may be some confusion over this matter and that it is necessary for me to clarify a few points. I must reiterate that unfortunately, although the new parts supplied were genuine replacements, they looked different because they were an updated version of the originals; with the original design bearings being excluded due to previous issues - this sometimes happens in an attempt to prevent future problems. As I have worked for this company for more than forty years I would like to confirm that at our spares counter and within our workshops, we have always supplied genuine original equipment replacement parts if they are available. I am also proud of the fact that I have always treated all our customers politely and with the respect that they deserve. The manager (CGM).

Give false information and not competitively priced

They offered their best price for a Honda mower which was not competitive. I asked the salesman to explain why I should not buy from the Internet at a much cheaper price. He explained that if I buy from the Internet I cannot get warranty work done with him so if it goes wrong I must ship it back to the selling dealer. I questioned whether Honda UK were ok with that and he said yes they back him on that giving example of someone who bought in Scotland and had an issue with the auto choke failing, he would not touch it and Honda backed him. I phoned Honda who said the warranty is Europe wide and I can take to any of its dealers who will repair it and could not comment why this dealer would say such a thing. What a shambles!

I regret that I have to apologise for this blunder on our part which, unfortunately, was caused by advice being given by an inexperienced member of staff. He was correct in advising that we are not in a position to carry out warranty repairs to new machines purchased elsewhere on the internet, but he did not realise that this policy does not apply to Honda mowers as we do carry out warranty repairs to them irrespective of where they are purchased. Nevertheless, I would like to confirm that we are competitive but do not sell new machines in boxes or crates. We supply new machinery fully assembled, adjusted and tested with full operating/safety instructions and free delivery in most cases. This policy explains why we will not consider matching non 'like-for-like' prices found on the internet. I also believe that it would be very unfair and unprofessional of us to sell you machines at lower prices than customers that have willingly purchased from us at a higher price. The manager (CGM).

Purchased a Stihl chainsaw from Cheltenham Garden Machinery. The staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. They provided overview of the product and a full safety briefing. Absolutely brilliant and I will be back.

Other than a few spares now and again, I haven't actually bought anything from them, but I'm writing this review because without fail, the staff there have been very generous in sharing their knowledge. They give an honest opinion and are quite happy to tell you what you can do without insisting that you bring your machine to them to fix. Such an attitude is very refreshing and will ensure that they're the 1st port of call for me when I need to buy anything.
