Business overview
Established in 1973, Chapeltown Community Nursery is a not for profit charity dedicated to providing the best start for our children. We love learning through play and imagination.
ABOUT US
Chapeltown Community Nursery was established in 1973 as a playgroup. Over 45 years we have established a reputation for reliable and trusted, play focused childcare. Because we are a community charity and do not have to focus on making a profit we can prioritise the needs of our families, staff and community.
OUR LOCATION
Our building is on ground level with step free access, conveniently located just outside the city centre and Chapel Allerton with a car park and on street parking. We are close to a number of commuter routes from North Leeds (Alwoodley, Moortown, Roundhay, Chapel Allerton) along Scott Hall Road and Harrogate Road/Chapeltown Road and are close to routes for the 7, 2, 3 and 48 bus.
OUR OPENING HOURS
We offer places for long days, short days and half days with availability during school holidays.
OUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Our nursery workers hold a recognised childcare qualification and are supported to continually develop professionally. We are committed to supporting the Early Years Foundation Stage looking at the following areas of learning:
* communication & language
* physical development
* personal, social & emotional development
* literacy
* mathematics
* understanding the world
* expressive arts and design.
We are also keen to recognise and celebrate difference in our children, employing a cook to meet specific dietary needs and engaging with a cultural calendar linked to our local area and communities.
Your child will be allocated a key person who is responsible for encouraging and monitoring your child's progress.
BECOMING MORE INVOLVED
Our management committee is made up of parents and community members. It meets once a month to discuss nursery matters and business. The committee elects new members at its AGM though individuals can join at any point during the year. We also have a Friends of Chapeltown Community Nursery group for anyone who would like to have a less formal role in supporting the nursery.
