Caroline is an experienced structural Osteopath with a wide range of experience treating all age groups. She qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in London in 1987 and has been a lecturer, clinical tutor and external examiner and has worked in private practice in London, the South coast and Southern Ireland since qualifying. She is also a member of the Investigating Committee of the General Osteopathic Council, the statutory regulator for Osteopaths in the UK. She is a member of the General Osteopathic Council and the Institute of Osteopathy.
Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.
All osteopaths in the UK are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and are required to renew their registration each year and obtain an annual licence to practise. As part of this process, the GOsC checks that osteopaths have current professional indemnity insurance, remain in good health and of good character, and have met mandatory continuing professional development requirements.
The title 'osteopath' is protected by law. It is against the law for anyone to call themselves an osteopath in the UK, unless they are registered with the GOsC, which sets and promotes high standards of competency, conduct and safety.
The GOsC can, and will, prosecute individuals who practise as osteopaths when they are not on the GOsC Register.
