Carol Whiteley - Piano & Music Theory

I have had about twenty-three years of formal piano and music theory tuition. I have a teaching qualification and over thirty years of teaching experience. Lessons are available during the day, evenings and weekends from my home in Gedling, near Carlton le Willows Academy.

I annually enter about thirty students with The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examinations in piano and theory. My students are highly successful at all grades, including many progressing to the highest Grades of 6-8. Some of my former students are now music teachers in schools. One of my pupils has been invited to perform at ABRSM's High Scorers' Concert. My experience has shown that children over the age of seven make progress more swiftly. I also welcome adult students. I enjoy teaching beginners of all ages. It is important for the student to have a piano or keyboard at home so that they can practise most days. Each week music theory homework is set. I find this supports students when progressing through their practical exams.

I enjoy teaching and hope to always make the lessons enjoyable and cost-effective. My aim is to help students to achieve success through their dedication. They are taught the skills to enable them to play in many different styles of music and acquire the knowledge necessary to underpin academic study.
