Small Classes, Happy Children, Outstanding Achievements

Our school nestles in the heart of Ashley Cross, Lower Parkstone but draws pupils from the Purbecks and across Bournemouth and Poole. It offers a broad and varied curriculum while managing to achieve a balance, both educationally and pastorally, between the traditional and the progressive.

A large percentage of Buckholme pupils achieve places at the local grammar schools and this is undoubtedly one of the success criteria for many of our parents. However, just as importantly, pupils leave Buckholme confident and eager to learn; they are good communicators and have a strong work ethic – these things, as much as the academic results, are how we measure our success.

Small but perfectly formed!

My eldest son is just finishing Year One and my youngest will start Reception in September having attended the school part-time for his pre-school year. Buckholme is a tiny school with a huge heart and my kids feel so safe and happy there. All the teachers and pupils know each other and this helps create the family feel that we all love. We make sacrifices to afford the fees but I can honestly say that it is money well spent. I would 100% recommend Buckholme to anyone who wants their child to receive a unique and tailored education in a truly nurturing environment.

A truly unique and outstanding school!

As a former pupil of Buckholme Towers who spent nine incredibly happy years here, I honestly cannot speak highly enough of the school and it's incredible ethos to education. Class sizes are v. small which means every pupil grows up feeling valued and being individually supported, which allows them to flourish. The school has an incredibly warm, homely feel, whilst also offering outstanding teaching and upholding traditional values. Children spend a great deal of their young life at school at an incredibly important time in defining their personality and approach to education and life, and I won't hesitate for a second to send my own children to Buckholme Towers in the future. An incredibly unique school.

An exceptional school with a 'family' atmosphere

Both my son and daughter attended Buckholme Towers and I cannot recommend it enough. The resources, activities and learning opportunities provided were highly creative, thoughtful and engaging. It’s small class sizes ensures that no children go ‘under the radar’ as it were. The children are well known throughout the school and they are happy, secure and well looked after. I was extremely impressed with how much progress and enjoyment my children made in their learning. The little extras which you may not get in other nurseries/schools such as the specialist music and PE lessons, forest school and weekly library visits add a special extra touch. I have thoroughly enjoyed attending the schools’ class assemblies, music concerts, summer shows and fayres, a real treat and the children are clearly well cared for, confident, happy individuals.

The boost my daughter needed.

My daughter joined Buckholme after a couple of quite miserable years in the local state school. She seemed to have lost her confidence and was being over-looked in a large class. We were hoping she would become the bright, smiley girl we knew again, and we wanted her to prepare for the Grammar school test. Buckholme, with its small classes, friendly family atmosphere & 11+ prep was the perfect choice for her. Within weeks the change was noticeable, she made new friends straight away and enjoyed going to school every day. We were so glad we moved her as not only did she pass the 11+, but she also had a fantastic time and believed in herself again. She is now at the Grammar & has started year 7 full of confidence and prepared for the new challenges of secondary school. She misses Buckholme a lot & we are so grateful we moved her when we did.

Small class sizes, kind, happy, welcoming Children

My daughter was very unhappy at her large state school where she was often ignored, teased and undervalued by both children and staff members. Her unhappiness was adversely affecting her behaviour, academic performance and confidence. We hadn't planned on sending her to an independent school but we were desperate. She had a taster day at BTS and loved it. Everyone was so kind and inclusive that she didn't want to leave. As most of her friends were striving to go to the grammar school she worked hard to pass the 11+ exam and achieved her goal of obtaining a grammar school place. Her confidence has soared and she has made some great friends at BTS. There is always something to look forward to in the calendar of events where everyone is encouraged to join in. As the school is so small, all age groups know each other. Although the outdoor facilities are small it certainly makes up for this in other ways.
