I have been taking piano classes with Bruce for the last couple of months and they are exactly what I was looking for.

I’m learning for fun as a adult, with quite specific things that I would like to play (jazz, blues). Bruce has followed my lead on choice of music and broken the songs down into different exercises for me to practice. These are varied and challenging, while still being achievable.

Bruce is a friendly chap who is fun to learn from and we get through lots within the hour.

We have had some in-person classes and some on Zoom, due to the covid restrictions this year. Of course the remote classes have their own challenges. But Bruce has helped me to get all of the technical bits sorted and his extensive teaching experience definitely shows when communicating so well remotely. So, those sessions have been great too!

Bruce has been delivering peripatetic percussion lessons at my sons' school for years - the percussion ensembles on prize days make a powerful impression and many pupils take up the lessons. My son is now working towards Grade 3 Drums having got distinctions in both Grades 1 and 2, a credit to Bruce's teaching. Careful explanations, a wide repetoire and experience all really help the lessons go well. Virtual delivery has also worked well through the summer of 2020.

My son has been taking drum lesson with Bruce since the age of six and is currently working towards grade 5 whilst still at primary school. Over the last four years he’s rapidly progressed through the drum exam grades achieving highly (scoring distinctions and high merits) which is largely part to how good Bruce is. Bruce is an amazing music teacher whose qualities include his patience and supportiveness. Characteristics key in teaching children to a high level. His dedication to his students is evident, as shown through lockdown, where he has given lessons via zoom, helping my son maintain his skills. My son loves going to his lessons and always leaves happy and eager to learn more.

Even with the challenges of lockdown, Bruce has always been flexible, adaptable and reliable in delivering an engaging, fun drums lesson for our son Joe (now 14) - either in person or via Zoom. With Bruce as his drum tutor, he has achieved his grade 1 & 2 drums (distinction & merit respectively!) & grown in confidence, skills & knowledge of different musical styles to really enjoy a week of Rock School this summer (as the band drummer) & choose music GCSE as one of his options.
