THINK carefully before you decide to take out a contract

I walked in with good faith that the fully reconditioned 5 star services they claim to have would all be good for my needs with the reconditioned washer I had signed up for.
never having ever bought anything on Hire Purchase before now I know why i would never get involved with stores like this again.
5 star service includes before an item leaves the warehouse it has undergone multiple checks so it is in a 5 star working order for the paying customer.
My experience was far different to this as I had just done only 1 wash before the electrics on the machine would not work.
I decided to cancel the agreement and was refunded all initial payments that I had made.
But my serious question to Bright House still remains unanswered as to how they can allow a electrical item as in my washer to be delivered when it was not in a 5 star state and would not work.
I was promised the area manager would contact me within 48 hrs but 2 weeks later this still hadn't happened.
Finally on the 23rd April he called me and we discussed the issue and my request to be compensated as I was left with their broken machine in my home and with an appointment made to have it collected when they were told I didnt agree to the date of them collecting the item.
I was offered compensation over the phone and was promised that a cheque would be drawn up for me that day.
But what I wasnt told is that this could take up to 1 week , 2 weeks and today I was told 3/4 weeks by the store themselves.
I am very angry that this Store has a contract which is extremely binding in every way to the customer but it is difficult to actually see where Bright House are actually liable for anything or have any kind of obligation to you the customer.
The fact remains Bright House are dispatching broken down electrical goods , not only was it not working the machine was missing its lower front panel.
To think exactly the full cost of the item is way above its real cost I would of certainly expected a lot more from Bright House.
I wait with bated breath for the cheque to arrive.
